:D:DFred interchanges words too! I'm very careful what I say around him!

We are extremely careful when talking, even if we are in another room.
I think it's hilarious the way she uses different names, with different sayings, keeps us entertained. :D

Too cute. I learned this with my cousin's CAG. I was at her house alone playing video games. Like most teenage boys, I shout at my games. I was playing football and the ref made a bad call, so I screamed, "YOU'RE SOOO STUPID!!" When my cousin came back from shopping and was playing with the CAG. Next thing I hear was the bird screaming at her, "YOU'RE SOOO STUPID!" I just love them all :D

Oh my gosh, you had me laughing so hard. Mishka is so hilarious. And apatrimo94, that was a pretty funny story too. I wonder what your cousin thought of that.

I think I've made up my mind which parrot I'll be getting in a few years. ;)

Ap maybe the bird had a point "YOU'RE SOOO STUPID" LoL
Just joking :p haha Gotcha !!!!!
Seriously, sometimes I say a word to :grey: then at a later stage, sometimes days later she says them.

My husband keeps reminding me of this when I let my potty mouth get the best of me. Usually during baseball games...and football games.

Jade's starting to talk - she says Wow and learned Hi from Popcorn. Max is really starting to "chatter" so I suspect he's going to start talking soon; we hope his first word is "Garrrr" like a pirate. Ruby's practicing as well. She makes the "Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck" sound like Curly on the Three Stooges.

LOL Mishka is hilarious!, Now everything will be disguuuuuuustiiiiiiiing ;)
Hiroshi makes kissy noises muuuuuuuuuuuuuuah! It's adorable!, No words yet though.

Thats so cute, it made my life. I'm trying to teach my conure Toulouse to say "Hello" but all she says for now is "beep rrr ma rrr beeep ga rrr". It's a work in progress. ;)

Talk talk and talk 24/7.
If you have a recorder, or CD player, record your voice saying, say about 3 simple words.... hello bye bye love you

When you are not home, or busy, play the recording. When you are near the bird repeat the words, eventually Toulouse will hopefully start saying them along with you.
At night, with Toulouse on your lap, keep repeating the words on the recorder.
BUT make sure she learns what they are
When you walk into the room say hello, when walking out, say bye bye,
and keep saying love you.
It is a long process, what you put in your get out, that is if the bird is keen and willing to learn.
How old is Toulouse?
Good luck :D

antoinette i thought of doing exactly what u said about the recording /teaching but a breeder here in oz says is just lazy expecting the bird to learn words via a constant recording when your not home .
makes me
feel guilty of wanting to do that

.

i have

fethered phonics cd that has 100 sayings / sentences for birds to learn .am i being lazy when im not home to put this on .i love teaching my bird evry chance i get sorry for the bad punctuation

Personally I don't find it to be a lazy way. It also provides entertainment. Hiroshi loves being repetitive with his sounds so I don't see why he wouldn't like to hear repetitions lol :)

Call me cynical, but I'm betting being a breeder is their job so they're with birds all the time. Most of us aren't that lucky and have to be away from home for hours at a time so we can keep our little guys in good food and toys.

Hi mp, "Different strokes for different blokes"
I have trained Mishka with the recording since I handreared her at 6 weeks old. I am fortunate to work from home, which I am sure contributes to her excellent talking ability. We talk all day long, me in my office, Mishka in the lounge. I play the CD for her, during the day on and off, and say the words along with the recording. We spend about 4 hours during the day talking to each other, with no CD playing. At night we chat for about 1 hour, going over new things she is learning.

Here's an example..... if I ask her where is Stevie, she says Stevie has gone to the hospital. What is Stevie driving, she replies Stevie is driving his car.

Below is a audio recording, with pictures added, where I ask Mishka question, she understands what is being asked and replies correctly.

Whenever possible, if the bird is nearby, talk talk and talk some more.
Even if he is in another room, and he can hear you, talk to him.
Record you voice with some words, as I mentioned before, you will be amazed how quickly he will start saying them. BUT remember to say the words to him, practicing with him, and make sure he understands what is being said.

One of Quincy's favorite words is "shutup" (learned from his previous homelife) its both sad and commical at the same time, everytime he screams, he tells himself to shutup, I honestly think he screams just to hear himself talk sometimes....lol, he'll occasionally throw in a "stop it", I never tell him to shutup, but use a soft Shhhhhh, and that stops his screams, once in a while you'll hear what sounds like a leaky tire as he tries to mimic the Shhhhh....lol

Shame you correct it's sad and comical, but you can hear "where" it's coming from.

Must admit I taught :grey: to say shhhhhhh (then clicks her tongue) then sarcastically says oh Shut up, it really does sound so cute, and it's done in a comical voice.
