I thought I'd add my schedule to the thread to give those thinking about a zon can see what I do every day.

630 I wake up and let bonkers out

630-750 bonkers rides around as I get dressed and brush my hair and teeth and then he goes to his playtop while I make the birds breakfast.
755 he goes into his cage and I go to school
1:00 I get home and let bonkers out and eat lunch with him.
1:00-3:00 we play and talk and goof around and at 3 he goes in the cage for 2 hours for his mid afternoon nap.
3:00 to 5:00 I go play with goose who is let out for another couple hours when my parents get home
5:00-6:00 bonkers comes to eat at the table with us he has his own baby highchair where we let him try different stuff
6:00-8:30 we play and goof around again and at 830 he puts himself to bed and growls until I cover him.
8:30-12:00 my time to do homework in the living room or watch Netflix Through my earbuds so it doesn't disturb him

And that is the routine of bird care as you can see it doesn't leave much room for anything other than school but I'm having a ton of fun taking care of goose and bonkers.

Sorry, couldn't resist

Today I went to go buy some baby toys for bonkers to play with on my bed and he enjoyed himself immensely. Also the baron demands that I pay tribute to him every time I eat by making a food sacrifice to him. Today he would not stop saying cracker until I have him a small piece of whole wheat pasta only then do I get to eat in piece.

Shhh, Babies R Us are the bes source of parrot foot toys ever! Dont tell them, or they will jack the prices up! LOL, so Bonkie demands tribute ,thats pretty funny visualizing it. "Give me tribute, human, or suffer the
Endless Squawk of Annoyance, which is endless and annoying!".

Just a barrage of crackers and hellos until he gets a piece and it has to be from my plate

What all new amazon parronts find out- you will NEVER eat a meal (or snack) in peace again. Ever. Get used to it:p

Quick update bonkers now will climb into his cage at 830 and growl until I cover him and wakes up at 7 saying hello until I put him on his play top(amazing investment) he tells me exactly what he expects from me and is silent unless he needs something so far he is the perfect addition to the family.

Oh another update I have lots of people asking to come meet bonkers because large exotic birds are pretty rare in rural NC. So bonkers gets to meet about 2 new people a day and I have learned that there are two types of people ones who are super intimidated by him and people who have absolutely no fear or respect for his space(thankfully these are my friends so I can curse them out) but he loves the attention and is great with pass the bird which of course is done on his terms. So far he doesn't like guys with long hair(I have a buddy who plays football and refuses to cut his hair until they loose a game) but that's it. I think that bonkers will really enjoy coming out and about once he's harness trained.

He's so cute. He looks to be about the same size as salty about 270 gr?
from what I have seen the smaller amazons tend to be calmer and have nicer personalities.

How nice bonkers is becoming somewhat of an "ambassador" of birds in an area they aren't common:) Pass the parrot is a great way to socialize too!

He is 477 grams today but he is not an amazon that stays fluffed so he looks a lot thinner. I need to take a pic of him that shows the size

Holy amazon! 477 grams:eek:? That little guy? Seems really big for a RLA, more the like upper range for a BFA and normal for DYH and YNAs. Kiwi weighs around 420 as a non-flighted BFA. Has his vet commented on his weight at all?

She said that's he is very large and then said something about a larger species of RLA I don't really remember but he is in perfect health just a big boy he is flighted but a little lazy so he might lose a couple grams once He starts flying more often

Even the cranky amazons make good ambassadors for bird kind. Don't tell anybody, but I thought I hated birds until I met Goofy, AKA "The Evil Attack Parrot". We see how wrong I was on that point.

I'm glad Bonkers is settling in nicely. :)

LOL, so looks can be deceiving. Salty is a little shrimp in comparison.
When Jim had Amy over, we were surprised that he was literally 1/2 the size of Amy.

477 is a lot of grams! Is that the weight at the Vet's office or your home scale?

I know that RLA's can get big, but Wow!

It was 479 at the vets but he took a poop shortly after and today it was 477 after his morning poop
