Baby linnies

All that cuteness in one post makes me go Awwwwww! And Buttercup and Pippin are so beautiful...I can't wait to watch the babies grow up:)

Congratulations Karen! Buttercup and Pippin look like great first time parents!

Unless Pippin has some mysterious unknown gene (which I'm pretty sure he doesn't) they will be turquoise like dad.

The babies will be 50% turquoise and 50% turquoise split to ino.

Now you got me curious. I wonder how breeders (who need to keep track of genetics) find out who is split or not?

Other than breeding them with an ino I don't know. I'm also not sure if any of the splits are sexed linked. When I got Pippin the breeder knew he was a male based on his color, single factor dilute. When I got Buttercup I didn't know for sure what sex she was other than the breeder said 90% of his creaminos were hens.

Your white Linnie is so beautiful.

Welcome! :)

If you could visually sex the offspring, you'd know which ones are split ino (the males) and which ones aren't! (the females)

As I understand it though, linnies aren't always easy to visually sex!

No they aren't, but I know a couple long time breeders that might be able to help.

Two weeks old for the one on the right. The one on the left will be two weeks on Tuesday.

Congratulations! So sweet.

Karen, they are getting so big! And they just get cuter all the time:) Have you decided whether you are going to keep them?

Ugh...I just don't know. I really want one in every color and I know these guys will both be turquoise.

Aw, they're still floppy. So cute!
Looks like Linnie's don't get much down? Already looks like feathers are going to start, but they aren't too fuzzy.

They hatched fuzzy but seemed to lose it quickly. They are getting some pins
