Teaching Zilla to "give Mommy a kiss" is either going very well or horribly wrong!

The first couple times she kind of got it right, kissed my chin, so I gave her the treat. :)

About the 4th time she decided to kiss my WHOLE face! Eyes, nose, lips, cheeks, and chin! I consider myself lucky she didn't put her tongue in my eyes, nose or ears (maybe that's a mac thing that zons don't do) :54:Maybe she knew it was gonna be the last time for the evening and I had an almond in my hand so she figured if she gave me lots of kisses she would get the whole almond and not just a piece of it! :p

She sure didn't like me giggling at her tickling me though, and gave me her "how rude" look while she ate her almond! :D

Doesn't she get a treat for every kiss? LOL! She worked hard for more treats!

What a good girl! The more I hear, the more Zilla sounds like a genuinely sweet little bird:)

Kiwi finds kisses in and of themselves treats:54: Now what can we make him do for a kiss?:D

She gets a small piece of almond for every kiss, I think she saw the whole one in my hand and wanted it whole so she gave me lots and lots of kisses!

She is so very sweet! Not a typical "normal" zon at all, from what I've heard about them! I've only seen her do the mad, angry zon thing once so far.

She is a bit spoiled though :54:not sure how that happened!

She sounds like a real sweetheart! You should post some more photos of her. :)

Mopar also does the "gimmie kiss" or "kisses". What's funny now, is he will promt it with "kisses" before he gives a kiss. I always thanked him with a "thank you" afterwards. So now sometimes I will hear him in the other room say "kisses" followed by a kissy sound, then a "thank you." :)

Who told you that?! Sally dotes over my eyebrows, my eyelashes, and my eyeballs... and pretty much always has. I get this twice a day from her, and at least once a day from each of the macaws...

My eyeballs are always clean! And the end of the sentence is YET. She didn't put her tongue in your eye YET...

She is a total sweetie! If I had known anything about zons before I got her I would have thought twice, but for no good reason, she has been through so much in her short time with me and has never not even once hurt me in any way!

She says "hello" "i don't know" "come here" "give me" "thank you" and meows like a cat, whines like a puppy, growls, chirps like a parakeet.

I'm trying to get some pics of her doing her upside down bat bird she does after her showers, but she sees me coming with the camera and stops.

She does preen my eyebrows and eyelashes, but so far no tongue IN my eyeballs!

BTW Sally is beautiful and clearly thinks you need some help with those!

That bird and I have been through a lot together. She is one of my original two... (Papaya died several years ago.) She is my doting mother hen, my flock enforcer, and my guardian angel bird...

This is the bird they were going to put to sleep because she was a vicious out of control biter!!! The bird that could not be handled except wrapped up in a towel. The bird that couldn't be around other birds safely, yeah, yeah, yeah... (She goes to just about everyone now. Yeah, the behavior mods work!!!) Five hours a day, seven days a week for four months and this is what she's been like ever since. One of my all time very best birds!

Love, structure, discipline, consistency, and at times, just being more stubborn than she was...

You don't give up. You keep trying stuff until you find something that the bird responds to and you build on it from there...

You're very lucky to have her (and she to have you.)

I truly believe animals know good people from bad, they know when they are loved and safe, and when someone really cares about them.

I think that's why Zilla hasn't torn my fingers or face off, she knows I am trying to help her and she is loving me for it.

First two or three weeks I had her - believe me she tried!

I initially couldn't handle her except wrapped up in a towel.

I only took her to keep her from being destroyed. And because I wanted to prove to folks who were experienced enough to know better that she was not too far gone to be pet quality...

My reputation was, in large part, made by working with this bird. She was significantly phobic and had a panic disorder that triggered the "FIGHT" rather than flight reaction. Her first response to everything was to defend the nest to the death.

Much of what I learned about rehabbing problem birds, I learned from her.

Somewhere along the way, I discovered that I could never give her up! She's been my flock leader for over a decade now...

I've actually had really, really good luck with amazons and macaws.

My olly is a "lover" too..I have to keep him from tonguing me! Lol...my new conure just started tonguing me tonight...lol..such sweeeeet babies
