Parrots
-no parrots yet-
I do have two cats -Riply & Nano bites-
four snakes- china, dip & stick, and Grand Chahee-
I called my coworker today and asked her about her new Amazon. we got to talking and she "an avid animal expert" told me I should get one too, I told her no, I want a beautiful GCC or a TAG. ....

She has a Amazon and a Sun Conure....

her reply was.. GCC arnt beautiful, they are dark green with flashy tails. and If I think TAG's are beautiful, then I need my eyes checked...

I got off the phone as politely as I could, even though I wanted to tell her she's an Opinionated %^&D#&. shes 20, acts 10, and the world revolves around her. **pulls out hair** there are times when I am SO happy I wont be working there anymore.

Edit: How is the best way to handle this? How to Politely tell her "So says You" without being mean about it?

She's sooo wrong. Don't listen to her. She sounds like she needs an attitude adjustment.

And the best way to deal with it, is to do what I had to do to my friend because she would call my hair and clothes ugly. Just be like "I really like them, and that's all that matters considering it's going to be mine. Sorry." But don't sound like you have an attitude.

problem is, I Know shes wrong, but she cops an attitude every time I say anything about it, and she mastakes my going silent for winning. What I really want to do is Throttle her.. give her face a good dustbath.

I almost said "and what, and your Amazon's got first place in the beautiful bird category?" but then again Id be taking it down to her level and the bird dosent deserve that either. its like.. being 31, I am above all this.. she is just alittle girl... but damn, she can be SO ....grr

can I just tell her that shes a little girl and needs to grow up? please.. someone give me permission.. please...

Just tell her beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

sorry about me venting. its just.. I guess I am fed up, this is the same girl that went in after I told our superviser that the dog I had been trying to get wasent friendly, came up to me and Said that It really was an angry dog.

the other day I tried changing a cats litter box, the thing went crazy after I went to try and get the box, I wrote on the paper that it was vary hard to clean around and use caution when trying to touch the cat. SHE came in alittle while later and wrote on the same paper, saying she could pet the cat, but when she changed the box, it swatted at her, and warned "dont let the cat fool you!"

.... I really want to ask her if she thinks I am lieing about these animals... Or If I would be that cruel to an innocent animal and accually hurt its chances to be put out on the floor to be adopted?!

and now this bird thing... I sware, If I wasent leaving there in a few weeks, Id do something that would get me fired.

I would have to agree that the TAG is one of the least aestetically appealing birds that are readily available, but they are far from ugly. Futhermore appearance (not counting unhealth appearing birds) should be one of the least important factors in picking a bird. Appearance wise Bob was my second choice, but behavior wise and by appearant personality he was my first choice.

What kind of bird lover would say that stuff? Sure, we all have our preferences for which kinds of parrots we think are the prettiest or the cutest, but that doesn't mean thinking all the rest are ugly! Sounds like she just wants to be #1 in everything, and the way to deal with people like that is just to ignore them. Or saying something that will quickly end the conversation without agreeing with her. Dealing with annoying people is just one of those great joys of life, try not to let it get in the way of having fun with your animals :)

I have to say I really like the TAG and CAG's coloring, trim and beautiful birds with the fine detail on the edgings of their feathers, and I dont know about you, but all the GCC Ive seen here are Vary beatuiful. Sure they arnt flashy like her Sun conure, but if I based on looks Id have gone for a Macaw.

But trying to get her to see ANYthing that Ive been saying is like.. well, lol like you said, Dealing with annoying people is a Major joy at my job.

0.0; I think I am going to do it.. My last day, I am going to tell her she's annoying and dosent know when to stop babbling rubbish!!

Thankyou all for letting me vent!

I think TAGs are beautiful. Being able to appreciate subtle beauty is a mark of true maturity, IMHO. No, they aren't flashy...but like CAGs, they have a certain reserved elegance about them.

I think your "friend" is pretty much a dumba$$, if I may be so bold as to bring down the wrath of the moderators upon my profane self.

I think GCCs and TAGs are both beautiful in an understated way. Its not always about being flashy and bright. I'm seriously considering a GCC as a companion to Pi and if I thought I could handle it, I'd probably want either a CAG or a TAG as well. Don't worry about her opinion. She sounds small minded and obnoxious anyway. Always has to be 'right' as if she's got something to prove. I know its frustrating to deal with ppl like that but they're really not worth arguing with 90% of the time.

How bout you give me her number and I will have a chat with her. LOL!:54: Just kidding. I have an amazon, a grey and an all green ringneck. All my birds are beautiful. I was just giving Ida, my grey, a pet tonight, and thinking about how brillant her little grey feathers are. I just adore her, and think she is very pretty. My ringneck is all green, with a ring, and maybe a hint of this bluish color around his neck. He looks like a stormtrooper from star wars, and I adore his cute little face. And then theres Bean, my naughty amazon, who has great colors... but these are like my children, and I adore them. I would adore them and find them beautiful even if they were bald. She sounds like a idiot. I know that, thats not nice, but she does.

UGH! If it isnt one person its another.

OK I have to ask, Because I have never owned a bird, does that mean I have NO experence with them at all? even IF I do work with animals and have been all my life, and not just horses and dogs. but every animal, including birds?

I called to get the info on a amazon the other day, the women was really VARY rude to me, said I didnt have the experence to own any birds at all because I havent taken care of them before. well.. I HAVE. I work with birds all the time. I just havent owned them.

Today she called me back, asking if I wanted the bird, I told her no, I had to ask questions first, she told me it was a baby and that she was going to keep calling other people because I didnt know what I was doing at all.. all the while, she was calling people to try and get rid of her bird cause of illness.

she was so rude.. SHE called ME this time.

lmao she just sounds young and probably use to nattering ppl into submission, i'm glad its small animals she works with, in a care setting her ignoring a risk assessment would land her in serious trouble!

now that i am older an longer in the tooth, i am very happy to say to ppl *i really don't care what your opinion is..... i am happy how i am

we work with dogs too. some of them can be vary big like the one we have in the back now, a regular mini horse, thats speckled black and white, apparently he attacked his owner and the man may loose both arms.

I think shes getting the feeling that I dont really like her opinion, cause she fallows me and puts these notes up on the cages, and when I tell her about an animal, shes like** Thats funny, I didnt have that problem!**

.... the last time she said that to me, I had just got done cleaning a cage where the cat was acting strange, as in rushing to the front of the cage and trying to swat at me.

I wrote the note on the paper and then the cat did that to our superviser.. the girl was all like.. "Well I had no problem with it." then looked at me like it was my fault. gah. ok I think Im ranted out, theres my verble abuse for the month, thanks everyone, I feel better now.

First off,,,when you are around her, take a deep breath and allow yourself to just breathe.
She is young and immature......she is at the age where she thinks she knows everything but doesn't have the life experience to back it up.....
Now, as for the birds....yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder....I think some of the naked birds are beautiful.....I think greys are gorgeous in an elegant way...I mean look at their markings and beautiful feathers.....
Next time she makes a stupid comment like that about a bird being ugly....don't argue with her or get angry..just simply say....."that is to bad, I feel sorry for anyone that can't see the obvious beauty in one of God's creatures" or something like that. LOL

Then as far as the notes......oh my, she is acting like a twelve year old.
Everyone needs to be well informed of an animals behavior..they act differently for everyone....tell her "your opinion is welcome, but mine will stay because I want people to be well informed to make the best decision possible"

I know I am rambling on but the best advice I can give you is this......it sounds like she is really getting under your skin....don't give her that power...by letting her upset you so much, you are giving her power over your emotions and that power belongs to you and you only.Good luck hun

it only got worse the last few months, shes starting to act like our superviser who is not a friendly person, and I feel shes only doing it because I am good at my job. I put the truth and she sometimes cant handle that.

But thats going to end here pretty soon, I put in my two weeks notice on monday. I wont have to deal with EITHER of them anymore. I know quitting isnt the answer, and I Love working with the animals, but I need to make more money. And that isnt happening there.

edit: ps Thankyou Kitt, I really like your reply there, and I am accually going to use it, because she Does try to pull that stuff on a daily basis.

Awww shucks, you are welcome....I am sorry you have to quit but the important thing is that you are happy....good luck to you.

I quite like the GCC look, so many different shades of green that are so subtle.

Anyways, you are a bigger person then me.
