Apartment Bird

Pois, budgies, cockatiels and pionus are the usual suspects if you want to narrow down your search. I would look them up and then visit breeders of the ones you are interested in.

I really like the English Budgie. They are very low key, affectionate and can learn tricks. I find their singing very pleasant---but our budgie doesn't squack, he sings.

Lovebirds are very affectionate and less flighty than budgies they arent loud at all and make pretty noises but they do make their noises most of the day lol! Green Cheek Conures arent very loud and very sweet and a bit bigger but not to big! They can make a loud screech but most hardly ever do unless they are scared!

Grass parakeets, eclectus, african greys and *some* of the smaller toos are also other options.

You may want to contact your apartment complex manager/owner and ask if there are any restrictions on keeping pet birds, and if so, what they are.

Pineapple green cheeked conure are great choice, I know lots of people that live in apartment that have one. Budgie and cockatiels are wonderful apartment birds too.

African red bellied parrots are a good choice for an apartment, as are cockateils, budgies, greencheek conures, canaries, finches. What are you looking for in a bird:)

meyers! or senegals. ;3
they're quiet but very affectionate and playful.

Cape parrot... which is a type of Poicephalus ("poi") that Karigan mentioned above.

I would say African Red Belly, Senegal or Meyers. Of course I am partial to the red belly because I have one.

I have lived in an apartment with all seven of my birds (one Lovebird and six Poicephalus) without ever getting a noise complaint. They really weren't loud, compared to many other species of parrots I've come accross.

Definitely don't go for an African Grey they are very loud sometimes they can talk and screetch for no reason at all. Mine loves when the fire truck goes by and we will hear the fire truck for about 20 min afterwards cause she ends up on repeat for a while.

My conure is also very loud but I have heard not all species of conure is. Love birds are great for apartment living but if you go with a conure just stay away from Sun and Nanday both of which I have had and they are very loud and squawky! ;)

There is no such think as an apartment bird. They are an illusion. Senegals are touted to be apartment birds, but the few that I have been around (mine included) are way to loud for an apartment and can be noisy birds. I would have to say finches maybe:)

Think small, parakeets, cockatiels, lovebirds ect... The big boys are naturally very loud, and while they can be trained to function at a lower volume, it is difficult and may get you evicted in the meantime :p

That said, my husband and I have lived for 5 years with our adopted zon in our 500 sqft apartment. Fortunately, all our neighbors adore him, and being it is an older building with brick walls between units they can't actually hear him inside their apartments (he isn't terribly noisy for a zon either).
