Anyone have Jendays?

I just "adopted" a beautiful 2 y/o Jenday.
This bird was so aggressive I could come close to the cage. He was not taught step up. He screams so much I almost considered rehoming him.

I have a large cage, floor model 5' tall. I made a nice floor gym and he has lots of toys.

With lots of patience and love he is now very calm, he only steps up when he is out of his cage I can't take him out he has to do it himself.

I can hand feed him, and he is learning touch training. He is very smart.

I tried to open his cage to see what he would do. To my shock he came out and flew right to my shoulder where he just sat the nuzzling my neck.
He has done the several times and even once when my dog, who he seemed to fear, was on my lap.

The screaming almost stopped completely, so much I am wondering if something is wrong.

Well that is a little about my Charlie I would love to hear about your Jenday's as well so I might get some ideas, Thanks, Rosemarie

I love the color of Jenday conures! SO gorgeous. Good job with him. I believe there are some others here with a Jenday. I don't remember off hand if any regular (daily posters though). Otherwise, there are many members with various types of conures to chat with!

I don't have a Jenday either, but reading your story made me happy I am so glad that your kindness and patience paid off.

I have a Jenday. He or she is 20 years old. My daughter inherited him from my mom. He was aggressive but since coming to our home we can have him out with company around and he's fine. He doesn't like my husband at all and draws blood every chance he gets. He didn't like moms husband either so maybe it's a bonding thing. My husband still gives him his daily pistachio to try to win him over but no such luck. He's been with us for 2 1/2 years and we just love him. He is the reason we bought two other conures (not Jendays). Also didn't get along with moms GCC but gets along extremely well with our Sun and GCC.

I hope that yours is as loveable with you as he is with us.

I have a Jen, Razzbin. She is a year old. She is an attention hog, loves to scream if she doesn't get her way, which I don't let her get her way and she is starting to learn that. When I spend time with her, never will I hear a scream, she will chat it up with me and make little fun sounds.

To me it seems she/he has started to trust you and wants to be your buddy, congrats!!!!
