I'm finding it difficult to train my cag well not the training part but the rewarding. she will happily sit and eat on my hand or off my plate however if I give her a treat for doing something ie stepping up she just drops it. The only thing she will accept at this time is a bit of apple but it has to be big enough for her to hold so is time consuming.

I've tried pine nuts, cashews, peanuts, dried bits of fruit, sunflower seeds, sunflower hearts, I've even tried small bits of crisps/cake I know this isn't good for them but it was only a small amount and I was trying everything.

I want to be able to reward her?

You have to just keep introducing new things, but since apples are accepted maybe pre-slice them so they're ready when you need to train.

I'm going to try unsalted saltines (HUH?) and unbuttered/unsalted popcorn for training. My mac loooves crackers.

I'd be thrilled if my bird accepted apples the way yours is and how healthy is that. But in terms of other treats, maybe you could try nutriberries or avi-cakes - both are very nutritious with great ingredients - I use them as treats for my birds in their millet holder. Maybe too you might consider seedless grapes - your bird should be able to hold one of those with no problem, but MUST be seedless. You might even try fresh banana slices (I'm not a fan of dried fruits - I really don't know how old they are or where they came from). Good luck :)

Mine loves almonds. I went out and bought almond slivers so there wouldn't be as much downtime while waiting for her to finish eating. She liked them as much as the whole ones and I can give more of them. Now to find time to go back and train!

Ok great thanks everyone I will try almonds and yea I know I should be happy she loves apples, she loves veg too carrots and broad beans are here favourite

Captain Jack loves apples too. That said if you are wanting tempting treats maybe Lafeber Nutri Berries, or Lafeber avi cakes might appeal to her. Even almonds or cashews might be accepted.
