N/A but hopes I get chosen oh please oh please
Uh so you know those pictures people have in their signature? The one with the designs and stuff how do they do that. I'm just curious.
And also I want to know how the banning thing works.
And how do you make a good signature? Everyone else has such good ones.
Oh hey! Hooray for me, no longer junior member! Cool!
But still a junior irl :( but that will change with experience I will aquire!

I have feeling some of you are saying, "will this child go to sleep already? She can ask questions tomorrow and if she brings up that volunteering thing one more time...
She really needs to stop stressing about it, and just be prepared and the best way is volenteering. If you want to reach your goal than you best try and do what you can and volunteer all you can. You don't get experience over night."
Ok yes first of all you are right
Second of all... Sleep? Never! (Well yeah because school so you got me)
And third the only reason I'm bringing up the volenteering over and over is because will I'm worried and I also want to know everything about volunteering and learn all I can from it. Like this is what I really need to learn, as people say knowledge is power, and again I hope I can find a good rescue. I'll go as far as taking notes so I can learn to be a good with birds and some day have one of my own. And thanks for liking my avatar :3
I hope I don't get myself banned. And maybe I should stop with the posts for now

Well I hope you donā€™t stop posting :). Most of us donā€™t have cool signatures, I only have what I could put into the signature part of my user CP... no idea how to put other fun stuff into there lol. Canā€™t help with the rules about banning either, I hope I donā€™t ever need to know how that works. Iā€™m really glad that youā€™re going to be volunteering, itā€™s a great way to get experience and you wonā€™t regret that! Learning before jumping into having a companion bird is a very smart step to take - and thereā€™s lots of us here to answer questions as you gather all your information.

Don't worry about getting "banned" as you've done nothing to date that is controversial, malicious, or contrary to forum rules! We could use some young blood to join the crowd!

I'm not web savvy and can't give much creative advice. The gorgeous signatures sported by some of us were designed by Super Moderator Allee!

Hi, spam away :)

as you can tell I suck at posting glorious looking avatars ;)

I got banned once because sometimes I am an idiot (btw you are only allowed to call yourself that, stating anyone else is one for behaving a certain way got me kicked out for a week).
Just stay within the forumrules and you will never have a problem.
(I mess up because translations verbally go well, but culturally are sometimes more difficult --> thinking and behaving like an american is not always easy! There is a lot of guesswork involved.)

You are more than welcome to play any game that is going on here (Banning is just one of them/ and we have fun there)

and being a youngster is goooood (well ... staying up late on schoolnight will rot your brain off course ;P /just kidding!) - that means you are not filled to the brim with outdated 'facts' and learn new stuff easily.
(Once you are 30+ a lot of "facts" you learned as a kid will be proven "false/ mistaken", the same goes for 'the rules of parrotkeeping'--- everything changes all the time.)

Every age had it pro's and cons - your brain is still 'getting there', mine is falling apart, so we meet each other coming and going.
Since my parrots probably all will outlive me (if nothing bad happens)- we need a lot of capable& loving people to take care of them, protect their homelands etc.etc..
So yes, you matter, a lot! Keep asking, keep learning ...

Oh ok thanks. But will try to calm down on the posting.
I just wanted know how banning works because this one person I think their name was deflin, some how they got banned and I was just curious why.
I hope my curiosity doesn't kill the cat.

LOL, people get banned for a lot of reasons, and most of the time it is never disclosed.
Why? Because the reasons are always the same: not adhering to the forum rules.

(I did wondered the same when I just got here - what did he/she DO? And then realised it really did not matter all that much. People get warned, if they ignore those warnings they get a slap on the wrist, if they persist -> they outstayed their welcome and there they go.)

I got a lot of warnings before anything as drastic as banning happened, and the mods were kind to just ban me for a week.
(As in "you do not know what you have till you lose it"- it is a great lesson.)
If I kept up being the way I was and not the way people here want me to be...I would have gotten a longer/ permanent ban.
(I have this terrible habbit of speaking my mind instead of sugercoating everything, so sometimes I will make a mistake and a long-suffering mod has to write me another PM. Believe me, they are plenty busy without me adding to the workload, so I try my best to play nice.)

LOL, since being curious about a lot of things is NOT against the rules (afaik) you are safe :D

I see not only I was curious "what did he/she do" at the beginning:)

Christa, you don't know how you scared me when I saw "banned":D

This forum only works if members are active! So post away! :)

Nothing wrong with asking questions. It how you learn and you will find you will learn something new every day.

SomePeopleHaveBirds,
Haha, I love your youth and enthusiasm! I would love to know your name, SomePeopleHaveBirds is a lot to type repeatedly. Your curiosity is refreshing, however openly discussing individuals who have been banned is really inappropriate, the foremost being, things are not always as they appear and we have no desire to publicly humiliate any member, no matter the disciplinary measures. If you have an unquenchable desire to ask personal questions, p.m. a mod, weā€™re all approachable and we donā€™t biteā€”-very often. I canā€™t promise weā€™ll answer all your questions but we will consider them.

Anyone suffering from undue paranoia over being banned please take a moment to look over these links on forum guidelines and rules, those exact links that were included in your welcome message, yep, the ones you tossed or ignored.

Oh wow, I don't want to get on anyone's bad side yikes. I'm hoping to keep a clean slate without any warning just my records at school, I never got suspended :)

I actually have a few usernames on other sites that correlate to the site. Like on a site that sells potted plants, I have the username: SomePlantsAreCool. And thanks for the link to the rules.
Well my name is Essence, you call me by my username in abbreviation if it's too long or you call me by my name :)

Hahaha! Just want to make sure we're all on the same page, here. There is no requirement that our members must either think or behave like an American. Promise. (Would that require lots of hotdogs and apple pie? Lol!)

Heck, my own blood and heritage would make such a rule counter-intuitive... if not downright self-destructive, as I tend to think and act, if anything, like a Jamaican. (Whatever that might mean. I'm sure my wife would be able to explain it to me in detail. Lol!)

Essence, the links that Allee has provided in her post will be very helpful in easing any worries you may have over the possibility of being banned, as the rules are not at all unreasonable. People are not arbitrarily given the boot, as Christa's account in her followup post should make very clear. In fact, we go to pains to avoid going that route. But sadly, sometimes it comes down to that anyway.

Bottom line? No member needs to worry about the possibility of a surprise banning. If you're on thin ice, you'll know it. We make sure of that. And a person who does something that merits immediate banning has done something bad enough that they knew it was coming the instant they posted it. Know what I mean?

So relax and enjoy your time here on Parrot Forums. We're glad to have you!

SomePeopleHaveBirds,

I've never gotten a ban, just several warnings over a few years.....

They'll just delete your post and PM you to ask WTF? But try to have a good answer. (actually one of my warnings was just rescinded with the new no parrots and predators picture rule, (I thought a pic was inappropriate, at the time I was being "judgmental") (thats not the entire story I was a little mean, and a lot judgemental... but...))

Parenthesis in parenthesis....I'm awesome...

Trust me you're fine! They even seem to like me now believe it or not! :14:
