Angel- Updates, Pictures, Words.

that video is so cute!! are greys renowned for going on there backs? or is this quite rare?

Mine won't play on his back, but his nickname is "bat bird." Sometimes it seems like he spends more time upside down than right side up...

I've seen a few that would. Then again, I've seen a few CAGS that willingly took baths too, mine won't do that either.

Angel constantly wants a shower. when she hasn't had one in a few days she will start to incessantly say "wanna take a shower"...repeatedly! ...until i spray her down real well. When she is in the mood for it she really loves water.

I once put a bowl with water in it on a holder on her playstand. Mistake, she tried to get it, flapping her wings like crazy, just got super excited. Now i make sure to stick to the bathroom shower with a suction perch!

Awesome pictures. Looks like you and Angel were meant to be together!

New Perch

You guys think she will like it?

Kind of apprehensive right now, as you can see from picture her eyes are fixated on her cage which is right across the way, and her wings slightly out like she wants to fly :D

I was pretty impressed she stepped right onto it, usually she is a lot more skiddish about things. Though it has been setting there in her view for a few hours while we were out at dinner.

Perch

Here is just another picture showing how i put a ladder across from her cage to the perch. I did this with a different small little desk perch and she uses the ladder and likes being able to go where she wants. So lets see how long it takes her to come down and try out the perch on her own.

Hey Guys, just a couple pictures. Angel really likes her playstand, and i hooked a toy on there with a bell it in. She knocks it all over the place. I put some bandage wrap on different spots on the stand, because the wood is kind of slick and she was sliding around. Dont want her to slid off and injur herself.

Also, its amazing what can spook these birds. The second picture is of a wax candle, you can see its not very large compared to my hand. This was sitting high up on a shelf in my room that she was in. One day i noticed she was acting really weird, like REALLY weird. I was so confused she was crawling all over her cage, acting crazy....looking kind of up in the direction where this was. So i grab it and bring it closer to her cage and she freaks out. So i removed it from the room, and all is well now!

It really is fascinating to me that she can identify that as a threat. Even though im pretty sure she has never seen a bald eagle in her life. Instincts are a strong thing!

My Grey "Peppers" has that same toy with the bell. She loves to attack it. Bells are her favorite! Grey's are so intelligent, and their instincts are incredible! Pepper's (and my other parrots too) continue to amaze me every day! I am sure Angel will continue to amaze you every day as well! She is beautiful!

Well Angel had her first vet visit, while with me, and it went great.

You could tell she was very used to being handled while in a towel. The vet commented that she has been handled a lot and dealt with it much better then most birds he has ever seen. At one point she was even talking while being handled in the towel!

He told me that getting her onto pellets as fast as i did was the best thing i could have done for her. He told me the benefits are immeasurable when compared the diet of sunflower seeds she was on. So i am very glad. He said he has been working with birds for 20 years or so, he seemed pretty knowledgeable. In his opinion harrisons is the best pellet, and that is what i have her on!

Was just very happy with how the whole visit went. They clipped her overgrown nails, and i had them do a blood test just to verify that she actually is a girl.
