April, I checked this thread hoping to find you had found some homes to fit your needs, only to see you are having car problems. I know how frustrating and stressful this is, please try to stay strong and take care of your health. Hugs, I know you'll find a workable solution soon. I was 35 before I could afford and qualify for my first house...

And there was a time when my wife and I worked three jobs between the two of us, just to keep from losing it. Then I lost it anyway, in the divorce in 2004, and I've been locked out of the housing market ever since.

I'm now 54. Still can't get a house. Took a 42% pay cut when the economy crashed. Now that the economy has picked up again, salaries haven't.

Work hard. Do a good job. Make your boss and your landlord rich. Don't like it? See that homeless guy over there? That could be you in a month or two...
