Hello

I am new to this forum, but visit the cockatoo forum regularly. I have a 2 year old Senegal and goffins too of unknown age. The too is remarkably easy to live with. He likes my husband much more than me, but we are living with that.

I know someone that has a three year old female blue front amazon that she wants to place. I have a couple of questions. I have spent countless hours reading through this forum but still have a few questions.

I went to see the bird the other day. She is beautiful. She stepped up on me and was a really good girl. She seemed a little over weight and like a real "perch potato". She hadn't touched her toys....only had one perch and one toy in her age. Since she is still young, can she be taught to play again? Her cage was really small and the pile of poo in the corner was over 6 inches high. I think she doesn't move much:(

I have read that some amazons can really turn "mean" when they become sexually mature. She is three so that is about to happen soon.

I really liked her and just wanted to get a few opinions.

Sorry so long

Hi and welcome,

I believe she can be taught to play again,my Amazo doesn't really play with toys in his cage but I can get him running, walking, flying, climbing up and down his cage and playing with lots of things outside his cage.
If you have the time to spend with her it is achievable. As far as sexual maturity Amazon's are famous for it,it can be managed and there is a lot of older threads that can help. Some Amazon's are worse than others.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I called her to go visit again and she sold the bird yesterday. I sure hope she went to a great home. Guess it wasn't meant to be;(.
