Almost bought a cockatiel today.

I found a new petshop in town and had to pop in to see what parrot toys they have, of course

They had very little in the line of toys but they did have a few smaller birds for sale - budgies, a conure and cockatiels. Pleasingly, they were all healthy and well kept - always nice to see in a pet shop.

I saw the most gorgeous tiel! I think he/she stood out because he is so different from the others. Very pale in colour, almost beidge I'd say, with light brown flecks all over. His crest was white and his beak was also bery pale. He seemed quite young (although I don't have any idea really) very timid and moved away when I leaned in close to the cage.

Because he moved away and because I'm not sure I'm ready to expand my birdy family, I decided not to buy him but I'm still thinking about him! Wish I took a pic to show you guys!

How do know when it is 'right'? The right time to buy a new bird? The right bird for you? That you're the right person for the bird?

I know myself and I suspect he may be mine before the week is out...:54:

I am not really the person to give advice on this....since everyone seems to think I come home with a new bird every week ha ha.

it sounds like he was a whiteface cinnamon pearl, which more than likely be female.

if you keep thinking about this bird, I have learned in the past, go buy it...

If the crest is white, wouldn't it be a cinnamon pearl pied whiteface?

I've raised one couple years ago and I think not long after that was when I had phone trouble and lost all my files on my memory card. But this picture is a Cinnamon Pied Whiteface!

This bird didn't have the solid patches of colour - more spots all over. I will see if I can get a pic online of a similar bird.

I would vote for getting it! But I love cockatiels, they are wonderful, cuddly birds!
