So as you know my Alex's wings were severely clipped before we got her, she fell today onto the carpet and is now twitching her head randomly!
I'm quite distraught at the moment and don't know what to do, I don't know if she's just doing it to be weird or if she has done damage to herself.
I need some comfort words right about now =(((

Try preventing Alex from making the injury worse. She must not be flapping her wings or participating in too many activities because they can make the injury worse.
Perhaps her wings may need to be wrapped to the body using a small bandage to her from using them.

You may want to cover her cage to allow her some privacy and reduce the chances of her becoming startled. Handle Alex as little as possible. This is not the time to be playing with her.
It's very important you give Alex adequate time to heal properly.

I would take Alex to the vet, we never know how serious an injury is.

Please keep us update, praying it is not serious.

Our bird sometimes flaps down and his wing twitches after. I don't think they're injured, I think it's just because they've almost literally "ruffled a few feathers".
I'm sure he'll be better by tomorrow.

I hope she is ok. Ozzie my alex's wings are clipped as well, sometimes he might be naughty and falls from the cage. But his feathers are long enough so that he can kind of fly down in an angle rather than fall stright onto the ground.

If you think she has injured herself, take her to the vet tonight (if its still open) or see how she goes tomorrow.

She's on her way to the vet now, I'm holding down the fort at home because I'm ill (IBS is a joy!). She's not moving her head to the left at all.
Just waiting to see what the day brings...

I certainly pray it isnt a head injury. Ruby flew into a door and had a head injury a while back. It is quite scary and requires immediate Vet care. She recovered fully but it is nerve racking going through it. Please keep us posted

She's back! The vet reckons heavy metal poisoning, the breeder leant us a cage til ours arrived and looking at it it does have rust on it. Getting blood tests on Monday and go from there.
So now no cage time for her til the new one gets here. So stressful!

Heavy metal positioning, that's bad. But it's good that you took her to the vet, otherwise you won't be able to know it. Hope she gets well soon.

She's still eating, grooming and everything, hoping we've caught it early enough and she's strong enough to pull through

Little update:
She seems worse at night, her symptoms are almost gone during the day, at night the twitching's a lot worse.
She is also favouring the right side of her head, uses that to look around and upside down then appears to disorientate herself, when she sits she'll usually have her right eye looking straight up.
Any thoughts?
This is too overwhelming after having her for only a week =(

Don't know if people are still reading this, but I'm wondering if it could be possible that Nimbus has an ear infection? I've had loads of ear infections over the years and it just seems to fit if that makes any sense? The side of her head affected she won't let us touch (the vet even mentioned that she may be deaf) she wobbles her head around and her balance goes funny but then she'll be fine. I dunno, just musing. Anyone out there had ear infections in their birds?

I'm still reading, and I hope that your vet can answer your questions...

Good luck...

That torticollis mentioned on that page is what she's doing, I will definitely mention it to the vet, hope I don't get google hate :p

Just dropped her off at the vet for bloods and xrays. Got her out to say goodbye and she did a huge screech call, I've never heard it before and it was so cute! (scared the crap out of everyone else though :p )
They apparently have to use a light sedation for the xrays, worried much! Bloods will take 3 days to get back =(
More postings to come, and hopefully good news!

Edit: She's back from vet now, vet thought she perhaps had a calcium deficiency (some bones weren't very bright on xray?) so we got calcium supplements for that. Bloods are off to the labs. All this waiting and not knowing is the worst =(

Update:
Got the blood results back and neg for metals, beak and feather, and psittacosis. Vets stumped and she said she's going to consult with other vets. We're starting to think maybe she just crinkled her neck and the head wobbles are just a baby thing, we have her water off our finger yesterday and she did that baby feeding thing. Hopefully this all means we overreacted and she's ok!

She sits with her head tilted back a lot, if anyone's experienced this before I'd love to hear what happened with you.
