- Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(
And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
For thirty-plus years,I have always been owned by two parrots, Smokey was my "first" big bird, then I was introduced to Apollo,a gorgeous Blue Fronted Amazon. Smokey was an "only bird" for nearly 1.5 years before Amy came home with me. I never gave it a thought about if Smokey would like a "friend" All I knew was I wanted another bird! Was it a mistake??..ehhhh...the jury is still out on that! But to Smokey,it was a HUGE mistake! Until her passing away twenty-six and a half years later,Smokes NEVER liked Amy! And as hard as Amy (and I) tried, she wasn't going to have any of it! From getting her rudder pulled,to requiring five stitches in Amy's tongue,it just was NOT going to work!:17:What was I to do??? Rehome one of them??? That wasn't going to work either.
So when both were out at the same time it was DOUBLE supervision time!
In the long run,I was the one to make it work. After putting Amy back in her house,I let Smokey out. She would be lovey to me,then all of a sudden...CHOMP! and then glare at me! I knew she was p.o. for playing with Amy and she was going to let me know! Jelious? Ya THINK???!!
Then one day,Smokes goes to the vet,and never comes home again :17:and not only was I devastated...so was Amy! For weeks she didn't say a WORD...would NOT come down from her nite-nite perch except for a bite to eat and a swig of water. I cried for both her and I for two weeks straight, every single day. It was errily too quiet in the house. Then walks in Jonesy the Goffin 'too. I think Amy was happy in a way that he didn't stay too long lol..and now Beebs.
All is pretty good here with two fids. I took a risk at first with Smokey and Amy. If Smokes hadn't passed away she would still be a part of my life and Amys'.
Just my two cents here folks.
