Adding another macaw

Hi,
I just wanted to get some opinions on adding a second macaw to a household. I brought my first macaw home back in November and she's really been a great bird so far, but sometimes I feel like she gets a little lonely, and depressed. I used to go visit her at the store before she came home and she used to mumble all the time and say hi but since she's been home she never tries to talk anymore, and she hasn't screamed once. She's eerie quiet. Also when I take her out when I get home she just kind of hangs her wings out and shoves her head in my chest for about 20 minutes before she'll start to show any kind of personality at all. She is in her cage while I'm at work but after that she's usually out with me if I'm not cooking probably 3-4 hours on workdays and 8 on my 2 days off. But while I am at work she's in a really lonely quiet house. I was wondering if I did end up getting another bird if they would end up bonding with each other and not me or if anyone has any insight on adding another bird to the home or think this would be a good idea.

I made the decision to add a second macaw, and I have no regrets. The difference in their personalities is so much fun, and I do feel like they keep eachother company when I'm at work. So I say yes, and I'm sure you have a great bird rescue near you so you can find a good match for your family.

I own 1 male and 2 females and none of them like each other. I have to keep them apart when they are not in their cages. So you never know.

Exactly. You never know.

My two are "sibling rivals." They aren't really aggressive with each other, but they aren't best buddies either. Mostly they compete with each other for lap time... both of mine are velcro birds.

A pair bond bird, that has bonded with you, may resent the competition for your attention.

Or he may transfer the bond to the other bird, and have no more use for you.

Or they could become best buds, and still both be bonded to you

Or some combination of the above... you just don't know until it happens.

This is what I use to keep MBS at bay.

Yeah, well, it's too late for me... but if I can save someone else... :D
