The Rickeybird, 40-year-old Patagonian Conure
We had such fun with the "Nightmare Birds" thread. It made me think of this. Before I start, let me assure you that I am of sound mind and... nevermind.

Do you have real (recurrent?) nightmares about your birds? I do.

They take 4 basic forms.

1- A natural disaster is nigh and I have to get the Rbird to safety.

2- I am confronted with a huge aviary of Patagonians and I am trying to pick the Rbird out of the flock. When the nightmare ends well, he flies to me and identifies himself.

3-I come home to find that I have inexplicably not fed nor cleaned the Rbird's cage in days (I do this EVERY DAY!), and he is clinging to life. I feverishly give him water and food, and try to help him east/drink. When it ends well, he recovers

4- I come home to find that the Rbird's cage has been inexplicably invaded by... pigeons... other parrots... canaries...

I have plenty of other nightmares/dreams... I have always been a vivid dreamer, but... the the Rickeybird certainly has a unique place!

How about y'all?

Oh! I've had dreams exactly like the ones above! So crazy! I've also had dreams where my beloved parrotlet hadn't actually died years ago - I just forgot about her and then found her and she was neglected in a cage, clinging to life. :( They're kind of terrible - I guess it shows how much we worry about these guys and making sure they are well taken care of!

It has been a couple of years since I have had a actual nightmare. Lots of dreams ever night. Some boring, a search for this or that, a way out, etc... Some exciting, sailboat racing, road trip, etc...

The nightmares commonly occur during periods of loss. Loss of family, close friends and feathered family members.

Many years ago, I happen upon an understanding of injecting /controlling /directing dreams, which has enriched and to an extent homogenized dreams.

Enjoy the richness! To a level, they help prepare oneself.

OMG, Printer! I am so glad you replied. I feel SOMEWHAT less nuts! :)

Sailboat, I have read about and tried those techniques... when all goes well, that's what results in happy outcomes. Thank you! And I *DO* have happy or benign dreams... just so you know! ;)

I have a recurrent nightmare that my wife is having an affair with a Patagonian Con.
