I wanted to share an amazing moment I had with Ninja today.
I've had Ninja, my gold cap conure a few months now. He has been use to men more than women. I took the approach with him to take things slow, and let him eventually come to me.normally he steps up to be brought out of his cage, then immediately wants on top of the flight cages and runs to the back, as far away as possible from me.
lately he has been hopping on my shoulder, wanting attention.
today was a huge moment for both of us.
I woke up with a migraine today, so I decided to just let Ninja out of his cage, and chill on the bed. he went onto his perch and watched me. I invited him over and he flew onto the bed. he immediately climbed onto my side then up onto my shoulder. As I laid there, he fluffed himself up many times, and started grinding his beak. that put a smile on my face.
I laid dozing on the bed for over an hour, and he never ever moved, he had one foot tucked up and decided to take a nap with me,lol.
when I woke up, he moved down onto the bed, and did the most amazing thing.
he came right up to my face and bowed his head to me. I started kissing the top of his head, over and over and over. tears started pouring(probably a little more emotional with my migraine, or maybe it was relief), then he did the funniest thing....he lifted his head looked right at me and made kissing sounds! I laughed thru the tears. He then crawled right into my shoulder and neck and just stayed there for about a minute.
then he crawled out, and gave me kisses. I was totally blown away.
I laid down for another hour, while he stayed on my shoulder, all fluffed up, totally relaxed. It was then at that moment I realized the entire time he has been here, not once has he been totally relaxed. He's either been on alert, calling, screaming, or chewing our blinds.
It was a totally different side to him I have never experienced, and the best part is we bonded today for the first time. I will never forget this, and I sure hope he won't either. I'm so thrilled!!!
