I just wanted to introduce you all to Astrid. Her eyes have started to lighten from the solid brown/black they appeared to be when we first got her, and I'm curious as to what color they will end up being. When I take her outside she's very docile, and her eyes stay wide and don't pin at all. I get dandelions and clover for her, but she doesn't eat them until we come back inside. One thing is for sure, she loves to chew! And dandelions seem to be her favorite. I'm having a little bit of a hard time getting her to try vegetables, but hopefully she'll get a little bit more curious and try some new things. I'm thinking because her eyes don't pin when we take a walk that it's an indication that she's content and curious and enjoys being outside. She just looks around wide eyed at everything, and lets me scratch the back of her neck without any complaints. She really is an individual, and lets us know if she doesn't like something. It's wild to think that in her interaction with us she is constantly communicating with her body language.:)

Welcome! Such a beautiful little baby! Please be careful when outside because even a clipped bird under the right circumstances can and will fly away

Astrid is a beauty! Perhaps our IRN experts will give advice for coloring.

Scott, I'd love it if some of the indian ringneck experts here gave me some information regarding her coloring. We were told it would probably change after her first molt, even though I don't think it could get much prettier than it is. Her eyes are lightening, but I have no idea what they'll eventually turn out to be, or if she will even be a she. It's all good though, we are thoroughly enjoying sharing our home with her everyday. Still don't know why she seems to get so mad at her feet though.:blue2:

Gorgeous!

I just Googled 'Indian ringneck adult iris color' and saw a bunch of beautiful possibilities based on pigmentation/mutation, etc. No matter what... you're in for a treat!

Right, I wanted to add - get Astrid harness trained ASAP, if she will outside. We have had so many owners loose their parrots because they thought 'She is clipped, so she cant fly away'. WRONG. If there is any breeze and she gets spooked at something, trust me, she could easily fly away, and you do not want that heart ache. It happened to me many years ago, with a much loved Amazon. It still hurts, which is why I try to emphasize harness training. Parrots love being outside in the fresh air, but do it safely so you have many many years of love.
