Hey everyone. Researching for breeders and aviaries, it seems that there hasn’t been many Pionus parrots in the trade at the moment. Living in Texas, there is only the BW from JC Aviary and a BH & WC from ABC Birds. (If anyone is interested in one I would highly recommend from either of these aviaries. A visit to ABC was welcoming and the two were absolute treasures to handle.)
I have been waitlisted in a few places around Texas for a Maxi, but am expecting another boom in trade after this month when breeding season begins. I would love to hear if you believe this as well.
Should anyone know of any breeders in or around Texas, I would love to be informed. Most of my search for breeders leads to old listings and places that are already out of business. Has this been due to a shift of mainstreaming the trade to businesses for steady income? This is what I have come up with so far. I wish there were more information on this matter. Or maybe I am not looking in the right places. Although I am very determined to own a Maxi male, I do not mind waiting for one to come around on these waitlists. In the meantime I am investing in the best housing and enrichment for them.
