I don't knw if I should worry about my baby or not. He has just started having a abnormal looking poop. I have fed him what I normally feed him every day. A variety of fruits and some oats in the morning, corn on the cob and millet as a snack. A few sunflower seeds for treats. And a sweet potato mash with several different other veggies in it and some whole wheat pasta. The ONLY difference I made in his diet today was give him 1/2 a boiled egg. I just worry that he is sick. He is acting fine like he normally does. Maybe he is a teeny bit quieter. Hard to tell as some nitghts he is very talkative and some nights not so much. I included pics below. Also, he is spitting up his dinner a little bit. I keep seeing him chewing on something pale, once it was a small piece of chewed corn, once a small peice of chewed pasta. He is also pooping a little more frequent. He is rotating between the sort of beige poop below and then just a clear watery poop with a teeny splat of white. Should I be worried? I tried to google and found some things that mentioned he might have an upset stomach which not to worry about. But I want to make sure before I rush off to a huge emergency vet bill for something that will fix itself. And he isnt acting different. He is playing like normal. I couldnt figure out how to add a picture so the link below is to an album I made with the pics of his poop.

Is that undigested corn in the first photo? I know that undigested food in poop is a bad thing, but I also know very little about eclectus. They have a shorter digestive track so possibly that is a common occurance with them(I have no idea).
Do you weigh him? I keep a notebook of Rosie's weight at different times of the day so I know if something is wrong.

Keep a close eye on him, write down things that seem off but also try to act natural. If your acting different or freaking out your eclectus may also act different. Hopefully a experienced eclectus parront will be here soon to offer good advice.

If your gut tells you something is wrong consider taking him, if not tonight in the morning. Better safe than sorry.

Well The first picture looks ether like regurgitation or undiegested items in the poop which is bad as cooper stated. The regurgitation could be normal, but I'd also suggest weighing. As for the other poops they look very runny compared to what they should be. Picture number three looks the same as one. I'd watch his poops for the next day or so and don't feed him a lot of extra treat like foods to see if his poop hardens up. What worries me is picture one and three. As cooper stated weigh him and keep an eye on it if it gets to the point of weight lose id take him to the vet.

Ok, I have an A-Vet visit scheduled for Friday afternoon. It was the soonest one I can get. He seems to be acting like his normal self today. He had breakfast earlier of various fruits and I gave him some extra veggies for nutrition. He didnt eat very much but he is weird. I can make him the same thing one day and he devours it while the next, wont eat very much. I just got him out of his cage and on the playstand with some white paper towels under it. Some of the poops in his cage from over night looked like a mix of what I showed in the pics and his normal ones. His poops look normal now that we have been up for a bit. Normal for him is a little clear and watery with the greenish brown solids when he first comes out as he wakes up and finishes his night time millet snack (he loves to dunk in water) and then has his fresh fruit mix for breakfast with oats.... And then it gets more firm as the day goes on. Do you all think it was just too much egg and he has never had it? Should I still go to the vet? He is acting normal and now has normal poop. No chunks or anything. Perfectly normal consistency and color.

I was just going to say no matter WHAT you think it is, if it worrys you , schedule an appointment . Hope you find out what it is

Im really thinking now since he is acting like his chatty, hyper, normal self it was just egg overload. Its so hard to find clear information on how much to give them of what. I read several articles that said it was ok to give half a boiled egg once a week. I will NEVER do that again. Maybe next time just a little plain scrambled egg instead. My poor poor baby! Im still going to watch him. He needs a vet check up anyways but I was trying to wait until the weekend after this one coming to do it when the cash flow was a little heavier and I could get more done. Ill just keep him near me and closely monitored to see how he is. He is a very active, talkative bird and this hasnt seemed to phase him. If that stuff came out of me, I'd be curled up on the bathroom floor all night. Im researching symptoms to all these other things people have mentioned so if I see any of that, we go to Doc friday instead of next week. That was SO SCARY last night to see that. I kept egtting up all night to make sure he wasnt on the bottom of his cage or anything bad. How will I be when I actually give birth to real children? LOL Poor future doc.

Trust me, from someone who had babies before birdies, you'll do a whole lot of poop watching with the babies. But it's pretty much the same thing. Observe behaviour and try to figure out what they are trying to tell you.

It times like these when a nice digital gram scale can really help.... Bare in mind if he's pooping he's eating.. Is his output any different less poop?? That first picture looks alot like he regurgitated..(no urates, very thick and no decomp).Even though I have never had a bird get sick under my care( knock on wood) I have been told by many that the best way to monitor a birds health is his weight....

Im not against taking my charges to the vet but I find taking any of my animals to the vet stressful for them and me..
So I tend to confirm my suspicion ..

Good luck

Anytime I see a poop change I think back on what I have been feeding. Seed makes for dryer greenish poop, fruits and veggies browner and wetter poops. They will also have more watery poops after bathing since they drink water in the shower and get water as they preen their wet feathers. Poops to be on the lookout for are red poop/signs of blood (think if you fed beets or anything red), bright greenish yellow poop and poop with undigested food in it. Those are ones that would mean vet visit.

Watch him to decide if the undigested food is happening in his poop or whether he is regurgitating food.

I really need to get a digital scale then. Ill look them up to price compare.

Im pretty sure that most of that was poop. I swear I saw him do the squat and heard splat and thats what was there, although it could have been vomit as the chunkier ones. But he definately was pooping that color. his vomit was chucky peices and that color too. It's 10 pm here and he is doing just fine. Were a bit later in our schedule and he's happily munching on his dinner - NO EGGS - and saying "mmmm." I think he's going to be fine. I am however still watching him and his poop and will take him to the vet next week. Thank you ALLL so much for helping me get through that.
