Hello, I know this shrink film for your windows that you apply with a hair dryer is dangerous.. what if I just taped the film to my patio door. My patio door is a southwestern exposure. If I put up the plastic and don't use the hair dryer am I going to get the toxic fumes from the Sun coming through the plastic

You should be okay to do that. The only thing I would suggest is to let the plastic air out a bit outside or in the garage ( away from the birds) until that strong plastic smell that it has right out of the package fades a little. The sunshine should not be hot enough to release chemicals.
