On the recommendation of FBoy, im making a thread here.

I need to rehome 2 Amazon yellow napes that due to my health issues ( PTSD, nervous , panic OCD type stuff ) and life i do not feel i give them the attention they crave,
So i seek a loving parrot savvy forever home.

Im located about 30 miles north ish of orlando in Eustis,

I rescued both birds at different times about 20 years ago,
They have lived in different cages side by side all this time so

I want them to stay together, they know each other,

I do not know their genders or age,

One has several names so ill call it "cluckle" here its the smaller of the two
It used to be out with me a lot, its liked to cuddle, or nibble holes in my clothes

And it expected to share whatever i was eating, ( within reason )
Cluckle likes or hates a person, and lets people she doesnt like know it,
I havent seen any indications cluckle likes men or women better.

The other one the larger i call greenman, he was in a bad place when i got him,
Hes overbearing and aggressive, i did years ago have him where he would come out

And hang with me but he was unpredictable and did once when scared bite me pretty badly

So with my isses i stopped pushing him, i feel badly for him,

The cages are older and not so great, no bottom pans, so new cages might be a consideration,

So they are not picture perfect hop out and get on your shoulder tame

Parrots, they need a seasoned parrot person,

When i placed them on craigslist ( big mistake ) i had a lot of replies
that wanted them for their little kids or from people who collect animals,
They wouldnt be suited to those type homes, they need attention, i would think other birds would be fine,

Im not asking for adoption fees, that $$$ can be used for a grooming, food, toys, check up, perhaps cages,

Im not looking for a foster home, im doing that myself,
Im not interested in those folks who like to collect birds but want other people to

Pay for their hobby, they ask for 1000s to take in your bird.

Others from CL wanted to come hang out in my home, get to know the parrots and then deside if they want them,
Sorry, with my nervous health issues and a covid going around

You cant "test drive" the birds, i believe enough questions can let

A parrot person know if they want them.

If a person takes them and it doesnt work out, i want them returned to me,
Not rehomed or sold,

Thanks

Cheers

I want to thank one and all and i know i tend to babble and convolute things,

I guess the top things im asked is "how much you asking for them?"

And "are they perfect tame pets?"

I thought i covered both answers in my orginal post in this thread but like i said i do sometimes Confuse things, but please if intetesed read the first post i made and all replies it answers most questions,

Please do ask any and all questions i didnt answer and please kindly ask your questions here in this thread,
I am relying partly on modarator and long time members in good standing to help me with all this,

Cheers

I have a bunch of little birds, so I donā€™t think they would be the best fit for me. But my heart wishes I could help.

I think very few of us have perfect cages, parrots are hard on them .
Life happens, you are doing everything with your heart.

We loose track of threads fast , so bump and give us updates every few days maybe?

Can you post a picture? Sometimes that helps a person feel a connection..

Itā€™s hard here because most of us have one or two or more parrots already... but you know we are good people, and hopefully someone feels their heart and home has more room....

I wish I knew how to help.....

To add a pic , click go advance under text box, click paierclip choose photo , then on the far right side says upload , click that, after it uploads close the window and post

Buggy boo may need to post 3 more times before he can respond to personal messages, one if yiu need to message a mid they names are purple

Ill try to shine a bit more light on me and my situation and

Ill try to answer the most common questions i encountered when i did list these on craigslist.

I did use information found in that rehoming link here but i also learned there is no
"One size fits all" when it comes to rehoming parrots.

I did have a lot of info in my ad but i noticed most people do not read full posts they
jump to reply no matter what their motivations,
And i cant help but have that raise flags for me, i realize im long winded but please read my full posts it really does save time and effort in the long run.
For example i will likely in this post repeat things already posted.

I did had an avalanche of response from CL and 98% were scammer, flippers who only cared about making a buck off these parrots by reselling them so i am rather jaded.

Those types didnt even try hard to hide their agenda so not too hard to weed them out,
Then i had several hits where people wanted perfectly tame pets for their little children these folks were not scammers but rather just in the moment acting on impulse of thinking free parrots would be "cool".
I cant blame them, but no these parrots are not suited for kids or really active households.

I tried to explain in my orginal post these parrots personalities,

No, they are not perfectly tame hop on your shoulder birds they need a savvy parrot person to give them the attention they need i believe both given time will warm up to the right person. More details in my orginal post.

I can not offer what a few from CL demanded that they come to my home and get to know the birds, learn over serveral visits if the birds are right for them, in a perfect world thats super, i dont live in a perfect world,

I do not have the life, health or time for that, and with a covid added to that mix it cant happen,

I would suggest those people look into hand raised birds,
I do believe that a person savvy with larger parrots can go by my description and ask enough questions to decide if these guys are right for them and i can decide are they the right home for these guys.

I will try to post pictures now,

And again thanks to all for trying to help, this is a very hard emotinal thing to deal with.

I would like you to kindly read my posts in this thread and it will explain their personalities, in short, either very well may bite.

Thanks

We do not know each other, you might be a perfect new home for my parrots or
not, you know more about me and my situation than i do yours at this moment,
Also understand i had about 50 to 60 responses on CL and most were scammers and local, so they said, so i am careful.

In your PM You asked to the effect "will they bite you?"
Im not sure i see that as a clean cut definitive yes or no type answer,

I have imho answered the question the best i feel i can starting with my original post in this thread going into details about their personalities and my interactions with them,

As i said in my last reply they very well may bite you,
Especially the one, "greenman"

"Cluckle" may or may not take to you right away, i simply do not know for sure,

When you PM only asked will they bite you with nothing more i assumed you are interested in perfectly tame parrots which these are not plus i felt i answered the will they bite you question in my post.

Please understand im all they have and my poor health etc is why im looking for them a new loving forever home,
I owe them and view it as my responsibility to be very sure of and comfortable with whoever i consider giving them to,

As far as phone calls or texts,
Im good with posts right here in this thread for now, anything posted might help in finding the right home or help another person in a situation like mine.

If I misunderstood you that you are seeking perfectly tamed pers and you still have interest then please do share some details about why you want them and why you feel you would make a good forever home,

Thanks
cheers

This Sam fellow seems ideal for your yellow napes!

I don't know him, its just a hunch.

He's doing great things for his quaker, "Claude."

Please don't do Craigslist.
At least the folks on this forum are partially vetted because they come here seeking knowledge on how to give the best life to a bird that they already have...?

Good luck to you with the re-homing and health.

Buggy boo,
Florida parrot lover is very much considering giving yiu parrots a home.

IN the time he has been with us, he has shown that he builds things for parrot enrichment, works in training, and has a garden and providing healthy food.

I believe he would provide s good home for your parrots. As is routine, most people will take this private at this point, exchange a few texts or phone call, before finalizing a pick up of the parrots.

I know itā€™s hard for you to interact with public, and because of virus no one is going to hang out at someoneā€™s home. I hope you will take parrot lovers phone number from his private message, and text him.

Iā€™m rooting for you! I think you have found a home! And our amazon family on the forum will support him as he learns,

Sam, at the top of the amazon sun forum there are sticky threads in blue that talk about this species in general. Body language for Amazons is very important, they are know as a
ā€œ hotā€ parrot. They donā€™t bluff and are willing to bite.

These guys havenā€™t been worked with in awhile. So yiu will have to work on trust , sbd it may be a slow process that takes months. But they can also be such wonderful parrots.

I think buggy boo is just saying it is what is with his parrots, . I guess you just kinda gotta decide if you want to jump in . We here at the forum will support you as much as we can. And fir sure yiu are going to get bitten. Thatā€™s pretty much given. But reallly paying attention to body language and going slow , should make bites few

I rather PM then post personal information on an open form. but I see that you know that.

If she decides to contact me I will talk with her on private PM. It is safer for both parties.

and your right nice large home for parrots, and I treat all my pets like little children. oh and yes I spoiled them all. lol

Thanks
Sam
