Hello,

Does anyone here use a parrot perch backpack? I have seen many videos on You Tube and I'm looking for feedback on whether or not this is a good idea. I'm concerned about stress, but if I approach it gradually, maybe Levi might like it?
Here is a link to exactly what I'm talking about.

A&E Soft-Sided Bird Carrier For Large Birds | Travel from DrsFosterSmith.com

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Tami

I have a pak-o-bird backpack and a birdie go-go that is ordered. My birds love the pak-o-bird. Neither had any issues going in. I'm not sure about the one you posted but if you want to check out celltei and their versions I think they are the best quality soft carriers on the market.

I bought a puppy back pack, put a perch in it and my guys love going in it. They will even run to it when I put them on the ground and point to it because they know they get to go somewhere. I can say that they feel very safe and secure when in it because normally if if they see a dog half a mile away they will start screaming to alert me. But when they are in the bag and dog is right next to them, not even a peep.

The Pak-O-Bird packs are great and awesome quality with the breathable metal mesh. If my current pack ever wear down I would probably get the pak o bird, they can pretty pricey. My pack has been going strong for 2 years as my guys do not try and chew the mesh.

That's awesome Doubletake, what a great idea! They are adorable. Thank you, I appreciate your input. And your picture is great! :D

not had one myself, but have seen people using the Pak-o-bird and the birds seemed really happy in them. I like the idea of getting one in the future. I was going to harness train any future birds but I think hawks live in my area so pretty nervous about that

That is soooo cute, love your trio. You are very lucky that they do not chew though.

Just some general additional points re Celtei P-O-B - they offer a repair service if it gets 'mauled'. They added the zipper protectors FOC. Plum has had a little go at some parts but nothing serious and he loves to rub his beak on the mesh and make zipper noises. If they are chewers keep them occupied is the key. :)
The P-O-B is also adjustable to make it more comfortable for either sex to wear.

Thanks I think random strangers have more pictures of my birds than I do lol. I go to the exotic bird store every weekend and they get their own hanging perch they can play on, and people can interact with them, but as soon as I put them in the pack and put them near the cash register to people watch, the cameras start clicking.

I have a Pak-O-Bird for Echo, my 4 month old green cheek conure, and he loves it. He always hops in it by himself, because it means were going on a fun trip :)

Ditto on the pac o bird. Salty loves his. He is both harness trained and we use the POB for log trips, or at night, when the lites frighten him. POB is extremely well made ( the factory is 10 min away from my job and I watched as they made mine). Pricey, but I can see this lasting a lifetime.

Thanks so much everyone for your feedback. :01:
I just purchased the Pak-O-Bird online. I can't wait to get it .... YAY :grey:

We also have a Pakobird for our amazon. You will not regret getting it. Our bird comes all over with us and loves day trips too!

How is the cleanup?
How would you sterilize it?
is it machine washable?

I would think it would come with cleaning instructions.
But, I'll let the ppl who already have them answer.

1. Easy enough. It would be ill advised to feed messy foods in it though.

2. Steam cleaner then allow it to air dry. I'm sure wiping out with vinegar would work too. You can use paper on the bottom.

3. Definitely not.

Thanks for the info, that is good to know. I didn't even think of that, the pack i made is a removable bottom that is machine washable.. I just kind of assumed the pob would have something similar.

It has a smooth plastic bottom that velcros on. Just take it out and wipe as needed. It can be hosed down easily as well because it all opens up flat. I just line the bottom with a couple paper towels. Works great.
