Anyone that has followed my GW posts knows that Miri "challenges" ReaRea at times. ReaRea is tolerant up to a point then proceeds to show Miri who is in charge around here. Obviously I intervene when necessary. Well, this AM was a tad different.............. Miri really got aggressive with ReaRea......... And ReaRea got POed faster than normal.......Here's the thing, they were both on me when it happened! I had a hard time trying to intervene with them behind me and close to my face. The worst part was their claws digging in my skin while they were trying to hold their own ground. It was only about 15 seconds but I was bleeding in 8+ places as well...... They're both still very young but GEEZZZZZZZZZ I wish they'd get over this crap!! I'd really hate for it to get to a point where I can't have them out together, I already have separate cages for them. Not looking for answers, just wasn't ready for it happening while on me!!! (and it wasn't pleasant at ALL)

Ok, I'm done venting:31:

Oh no, what an unpleasant experience for you
15 seconds, and +- 8 places where you were bleeding OMG
How did you manage to stay calm?

I, too, have experienced the occasional Macaw battle on my shoulders and behind my head. It gets the heart rate up a bit! ;)

OUCH times 8 plus. I have a couple of minor squirmashes between my red bellied and quaker when I had one on my shoulder and the other one was out on the cage top and I got close enough where the other hopped on board. Not good. can't imagine it with two greenwings. Did you look in the mirror and check yourself for any missing bodyparts like ears? God bless you I am too afraid of those big beaks:eek:

 YOWSER!

Not a boring moment in your house, Wharf, huh? How deep are the bites? Or are you bleeding from their "talons"? :11:

Oy, OUCH! I agree, not ever a boring moment at all.

sorry to hear that! how did you break it up? that has happened to me before and i had to take off my shirt to get them to seperate! another time i had to toss one of them to the floor, but my hands and clothes got banged up lol.

Actually that is one of my biggest fears I was helping at a rescue the other day and a cockatoo jumped from his cage on my back and started climbing up towards my head(he's not a very nice bird) I calmly walked over to the "owner" and asked her to remove him, meanwhile one of the macaws ran across the rope that hangs across the room and started attacking, it was very scary, I hope you heal quickly!

I bet you will think twice before making that mistake again. I will NEVER allow two birds on me at the same time, no matter how tame they are or how well they get along together. It sounds like a pure case of jealousy.

Mike, I have no doubt it's a jealousy thing, but they have never fought like that, especially on me. I have shouldered the both of them more times than I can count and it's never been like this. It really just caught me off guard since it happened so fast, usually I can see it building up with them, this happened almost immediately. My biggest worry is that ReaRea is gonna hurt Miri once she's had enough. I will definitely pay more attention in the future.

Ant, it takes a LOT to get me rattled, without going into too much detail, when I turned 25 (a LONG time ago) my mom threw me a birthday party which she never did after 18. She ordered a keg of beer and invited a bunch of my friends, I was shocked. After it was over I asked her why......She turned to me with a mean look and said; "I can't believe your a$$ is still alive".

Needless to say, I had a "exciting" childhood. :D

I have a similar problem here, actually. One of Salsa's bad habits is that he loves to leap onto my back (or shoulder) from quite a distance when I'm not expecting it. And he'll even do this when Zaf is on my shoulder - and Zaf is on my shoulder a lot! You might have seen some of my videos showing how Zaf and Salsa are inclined to fight. Well that's what happens when Salsa jumps onto me when Zaf's with me. It's never pretty :(

Well it usually doesn't get this bad, but today was an exception. ReaRea is my "baby" and Miri ain't liking it. I'm trying my best to give Miri equal time.

oh my, hopefully in the morning they will all decide to get along. Always a little dangerous having 2 so close. especially the young ones.
