Nike a Hawk Head Parrot (Deroptyus accipitrinus)
I ordered this yesterday on Amazon and received it today. I labored long and hard over the size, originally ordering a medium then making a mockup from cardboard which caused me to chang it to small....only to worry that small was too small.

My intent is to use the carrier mostly for walking. I have a Poquito travel cage that Nike will be in camping but I'll transfer to the pack for walks and maybe some fresh air on buggy days.

I think it is a bit tight for her but should not be an issue for walks etc...if she were living in it for hours on end it would be another story.

Whatcha think about the fit?

Like you said Bill, good for walks and trips to the store. Folks will be able to see her easier. Nike looks great BTW. I never get tired of seeing her ruff coloring.

Thanks! Nike is looking a little rough now as she's moulting.

By the way, I tried some oatmeal with Nike but unlike Salty she would have nothing to do with it.

Those are amazing! So worth the money!!! Especially when the mosquitos are out!

Looks super fun! Love hawk head parrots - they are so beautiful!

Looks great!
I have a Medium one for my Zons, and it is a bit bulky for my height.
But my YSA has a longer tail (longer than my DYHA), so I got the Medium for that reason.
You can adjust the height of the perch I believe as I can see more room above the head than under the tail..... :)
But I wouldn't touch anything if the tail is not dragging on the bottom of the Pack.......
Enjoy!
I am planning to take one bird at a time to the mountains this year.

OK, I'm happy with it. Nike and I just took our first1 mile walk, she cooed all the way.

They are awesome! I got the modified version for African Greys - well it wasn't Gracie proof she methodically took apart the stitching lol So it has to go back in for repairs. She did love it tho!
Now she has a Wingabago for her daily transport to and from work - which she loves too & we just use the Pak A Bird for our outdoor excursions.

Love the pics! You two will have loads of fun and adventures.

Great package! Well done!

One small recommendation: Consider adding a beak grab bar that would be at normal beak level placed very close to either the front (human side) or back (open view side) that would allow a parrot something to grab onto if it got a little bouncy. An 1/8 dia bar/tube or like would be more than enough.

Always love seeing your Hawk Head!

I love it. Just wish they were more affordable for a Macaw lol

Wow checked the pricing - you aren't kiddin!
After having one in hand I believe that they are worth the price...would I like it to be only $99, sure :)

They are well constructed and Made in America. I was able to get away with the small which was $194 and while I don't own a Macaw, I gotta believe that it is like owning a BMW...everything is just very expensive even though it shouldn't be....and you're probably used to it: eek:

Funny you mention that as I thought the very same thing today ;)

True about the BMW but nope not use to it lol

Pak-o-Bird - XL Sizes for the Wonderful Macaws

$639.00

Not seeing the issue here: $639.00, that's the monthly payment on a MAC - Ooops, I mean a BMW-5. :D Sorry, just couldn't resist!

At least you wouldn't have to add Overseas Fed-Ex and Import Duty to the cost LOL.

Seriously, hope you do get one some day?

Hey knock off the BMW jokes, I own 2, a 2000 Z3 and a 2001 Z3 coupe.
Work on them myself, too. Parts are about the same as brand H... it's labor that'll kill ya.
