RIP "pineapple" lovebird
I got impatient and decided to try my hand at a pvc stand, even though I know Chiqui doesn't like pvc. She will not step up on the small parrot percher I have.

So I was shooting for a 24 x 24 max. And meant to make it tall so the cats can't reach and figure out they have no chance so lose interest. I got a wee bit carried away.
The whole point was so I can move it room to room and I made it too big to get through the bird room door and my bed room door. Well I can, but holy heck is it hard. I'm really annoyed with myself.
I should have planned 18 x 18 and went tall. Because I wasted about $50 on supplies and it's not even going to do what I want. My place is super small unfortunately.

Chiqui is of course terrified of it. As I suspected.
The little monkey (I think I'm going with Loki) hopped right up, even after slipping off a part I hadn't put gorilla tape or rope on yet.

What do you mean "too big"? Looks like Loki finds it to be of the *perfect* size:D That's a great play stand!

Amazons seem to go one of 2 ways, they are either totally fearless no matter what it is or totally frightened of EVERYTHING. Give Chiqui time to realize that big terrifying thing isn't going to eat her. Try putting some favored food or toys over there and be patient. Even if she doesn't end up liking it, I'm sure it will still gets lots of birdie use:)

Oh I like it . You did a great job. I had every intention to build one got sick with the Flu ( yes I took the shot lol ) anyway ended up buying one on rollers for now but I LOVE yours. Great job

I figured Chiqui wouldn't be gung Ho like Loki so I was ready to have to spend time showing her it won't eat her. She is pretty brave about some things. But the white pvc seems to do it.
I let her see him on it and thought she may have been starting to loosen up, but then her body language really freaked me out, I'm still so used to a CAG I am not quite sure what her body language was, whether she wanted to play or was downright devil possessed. Needless to say in CAG world I was about to lose a bird, my hand, or something. But as soon as I walked back to her cage she was normal again. So I'm not sure. She and I are still learning each other.

I am happy with it, but it seriously takes up way more room than I intended and it can't be moved. I would build another one, but I don't know where it would go when not in use,

Oh my gosh, it's an AWESOME play stand! It cannot be TOO BIG by a definition. :) They'll get used to it - usually birds are wary of new things, especially that big.

Even just 3 inches on either side would make it better sized!
If you only knew how small my apartment is...

Which is what kills me when people post on craigslist that they're moving and have to rehome their bird because their new place won't have enough room for the bird. It's just THEY don't want to give up their room... My animals get every inch of space. I get my bed. Sometimes. Usually have to push a few critters aside.

That is awesome. It might look too big and be too big for the space you intended it for but somehow you will make it fit. Maybe it's time for a bigger parrot. :D

That looks awesome! I made a table top pvc playstand and Cisco loves it! Sassy will sit on it to be able to watch Peanut better, but not play on it. I really like the looks of your's though. Did you use glue on the joints? If not would there be a way to unattach one side and cut the pipes to make it a little shorter?

Keep the width the same, just cut 2/3 inches out of the depth. simple 4 or 5 cuts, a few couplings. Fixed
Next time, no glue!

I didn't glue anything. Lol.

But that takes so much time and I'm about the laziest person when it comes to doing
Something twice.
I like to do it right the first time so I never have to repeat myself :)

Doublete - I'm not sure what you used to cut it but maybe I can help you...depending on how close you live. Maybe we could do it together...after I get my chop made. :D

Doublete, I think you did an amazing job on the playstand. I love the cargo net and toy bar at the top. I'm not a fan of do overs either, but I think making some minor modifications to make it fit the space better would be well worth the extra effort.

You could put felt feet on the bottom to slide it around. Looks great; Ours started small and ended up 8' tall. It took Brax several weeks to be okay on it.

Very nice! This is a really awesome playstand!

I made a tabletop stand with my dad (which I sometimes put on the floor when we're all playing down there together). It was mostly supposed to be for my conures and cockatiel, but my budgies have kind of taken it over, which makes me really happy! They didn't like to stay out of their cage during the day before they discovered the stand, and my bigger birds have plenty of other places to hang out and play.

I plan to make another, bigger one after my grey comes home. That one will be a floor stand, and I also want to be able to bring it room-to-room.

Also, nice cargo net ;)

Maybe try wrapping some of the pvc in vet tape instead? Maybe your zon will be more accepting of a fun coloured spot?

I used a ratcheting cutter and it probably wouldn't take me long to modify but ugh.

Thanks for all the compliments guys I'm not usually crafty so I'm pretty proud of myself.

I was thinking some vetrap but of course the color I race my horses in is black so I don't have colored on hand. I'll pick some up in a couple days when I go to the feed store next. I'm sure she will adjust to it eventually. Especially if she sees Loki on it a few times.
