My DYHA Simba is a very neat bird, she likes to poop outside her cage when sitting on the door of it......:p
So, "here we go!!!!..." that what she says when something is completed....:)

The knife in the pictures is not for cutting the wire (it's aluminum), it's for cutting the litter bottle.
I'll report how this is going to work for us. The birds are downstairs enjoying Bach music while I am cleaning their room..........:54:

That's pretty cool! Your idea? Are they easily removable for cleaning?

This is NOT my idea. They sell something similar made commercially, but they are $$$, so MY idea was to cut up the litter bottles and hang them on the cage's doors.
Yep, they are perfect size to catch even the bigger birds poop, and YES they are easily removable!!!!..............Wooooo-Hoooooo!!!!!
Since I posted I brought birds back to their room......hehe....and my little one (YSA) went into her cage without even acting like there is a change to the door of her cage....when my DYH flew off to another room on a first sight of these things hanging on her cage. She is sitting IN her cage now adjusting.....:p
The doors of my birds cages are open all the time when I am home, but they like their cages and sit there often.

Here's the original... I used to have a set, but I sold em with the cage once I decided the cage wasn't working for me... :(

Mine were metal though, not hard plastic... and if they were going to remain metal, then prices for them would have been $60-$80 or so rather than the $20-$30 that they are....

Torrap, it's been a little while now. How are yours working out for you?

Brilliant idea! We just keep a big rug under Kiwi's cage. If he got some nice, chewable plastic within his reach, it wouldn't last long:09: Hope the bottle poop catcher works out for you.

Thank you,
It works great for my YSA. She didn't care to see these two strange plastic things hanging off her cage. She doesn't chew them either. She is not a chewer. It collects poop just like I thought it will....:D.
But I am still working on my DYHA to learn to deal with them hanging at her cage. She is a very neurotic bird...she noticed them right away and flew off being scared of them like they are monsters of some kind. So, they were placed near by for few days, and now there is only one hanging off her cage. I am planning to place the second one next weekend......

Kiwibird, the new door skirts are made out of recycled plastic and it's pretty hard!!! So *most* birds probably wouldn't be able to destroy it! At least, that's my understanding! I've never gotten one of the newer ones before.

Torrap, it's great that yours are working for you! :)
