what wood is safe to build a home made java stand? I have a good size java branch that I'm not using, so I thought I would make a java stand for it.
my nephew and I are building one tomorrow(hopefully) and I wanted to know, so I can go to Lowes or Home depot and pick some up.
would poplar be safe?....
I don't plan on staining it, just a natural look is fine.

I know cedar & pine are not safe.
I looked on line but didn't find much info.

Here are some links for you. :)

Yes, poplar is safe, as are pine dowels, but I prefer natural wooden branches.

Check out how easy it can be to build your own play stand:

Granted, it's for big birds, but it should be easy enough to down-size it. :)
