I've been wanting to buy one for a long time but was holding out on getting Sterretjie a friend first. The idea was to introducing them to the cage at the same time in the hopes that she would not be SO aggressive. But, she will not be getting a friend and I downsized the cage.

She sat on her tree and watched us prepare the whole cage for her. When I finally took her inside she was over the moon. She played non stop, climbing, swinging, hanging upside down and singing with so much joy. I stayed inside the cage and made sure that everything was accessible and safe because she can barely fly. I moved some ropes around when I discovered that she loved climbing it upside down.
It really made my heart warm to see her soooo happy.

I battled to get her home - the kid just wanted to stay outside and play forever. She was so exhausted from playing that she fell asleep just before six!:D

The cage is 1.52 x 3 meters and 6 foot high. (59.84 x 118.11 x 72 inch - I think.) There was lots of space for toys, a hanging bath, lots of ropes and perches.

:D

Linky that is so awesome, how beautiful and so so big. I am so happy for Sterretjie.
I can see Sterretjie just loved it, lots of climbing around to be done, and so many toys wow, she must think she is in birdie paradise. Any bird would love it
Craig did a fantastic job, once again, high five Craig

Wow Linky! That looks great!!! Might build one for S'mores.

Have threes questions: how was it built? With what materials were used? And the perches you have in there, did you buy them or are they from outside? Thanks!

Ja he had to once again offer his whole day up to me and my craziness. But he did not do anything alone - I helped 100%.:D We had to drill holes through the steel and make wholes in the branches. He then screwed it from the outside while I had to hang on for dear life! His strength is ridiculous really - I have blisters on my hands hanging on to the branches so they dont move away from the sheets!

But it was worth it! It feels as if I have received the biggest Christmas present ever.:D

Everything was bought. The cage is stainless steel and the perches are natural perches, the same as the ones inside her indoor cage.;) If you want to build it yourself then the price doubles to triples because you do not buy the steel in bulk like the pet shops do.

Wishing i were her she looks soooo super happy and extra spoilt
love it<3

Just a report on what Sterretjie thinks of her new aviary.

Both Monday and yesterday she was happy as always to see me and jumped on my hand to say hello. But, she then jumped off and did not want to go home. That makes me happy.:D

Judging on what the grass looked like she was EXTREMELY busy stripping the bark and decorating the grass with peaches and apples. Siza also said that Sterretjie was singing the whole day long.

I am glad that I finally made one of my promises to her come true.:D Thank you God for putting me in a place where I can make my animals dreams come true.

Sterretjie has a home away from home, great to hear how much she loves it.

Thank you God for sending Sterretjie to Linky, such a wonderful and caring guardian, always willing to go the extra mile, to make sure that Sterretjie is healthy and happy.
I am sure Sterretjie's is living her dream, being with you Linky.

There's a saying
The truth always come out

In this case I am happy to agree

Ant is right!

I cannot imagine a better guardian for our little sterrejie! I swear to goodness, if something should happen to me my will would have Cal sent to you in a heartbeat!

Just need enough money for that private jet to take her there now......

THAT is an amazing Aviary!! I bet Sterrejie is thinking her Mama is the best in ALL the world to give her such an awesome playground!!! Great Job!!!!

Aww, Linky!! That is precious!! I hope to one day build something as neat as that for Maui and Babe to enjoy. But, first, I have to move out of my Mommy's house. LOL.. I would like to help my Mom build something nice for all her babies too. You've inspired so many of us to consider building something special for all of our own fids too. You guys did an amazing job decorating it for her and everything!!!
