The way things normally happen at my house is I get home and Zoe yells for a good 20 seconds until I let her and the sennies out. After I let them out I put up my dishes from work and put away any groceries I bought on the way home and then I take Zoe into the bedroom with me while I get changed.

Well, yesterday I had to take our son to the college to take some tests right after work. I got home to pick him up and Zoe starting yelling expecting me to let her out. Obviously I didn't and we left. That was around 4.

My partner got home around 6:30 and discovered Zoe on top of her cage. She had let herself out via the breeder door (that was shut and latched.) Apparently the game has begun of BTM vs dumb human :)

PS....she got out once before, but I had forgotten to put a food bowl back in one of the spots that time. The food bowl door was closed, but there was no bowl preventing her from playing with the latch.

You need to set up a camera to catch her in the act, LOL.

Oh wow Karen... Here it starts! Zoe will MAKE you good at remembering to secure the fortress! Upholding the BTM reputation I see :D.

The other day I could have used Zoe's help...
I was trying to remove a quick link on Raven's spare food door, which doesn't have a secure latch it has a hook, but Pionus are not the kind of birds who do puzzles and escape, so I decided to take it off. It was tight getting it off and it took me way too long to do! I thought how the heck did I get this thing on here in the first place?! I felt so stupid thinking "I think I need the help of a Macaw or Cockatoo right about now :52:" lol

Before Beau, our grey, passed away we used to leave him loose. He had a cage that he stayed on, but we never shut the door. He was good. This one though I'm pretty sure I wouldn't trust her very far. She's trouble ;-) Apparently I do need a wildlife cam.

Julie, maybe she'd like to visit Cali to help you out :) There's a quick link in Sydney's cage that I can't get undone, but I'm not sure I can convince her she'd like to go IN his cage to undo it for me, but you never know, she like's to fly to Sammie's cage and play with her stuff.

Zoe's a clever girl. We had to put custom locks on Popeye's food doors, he loves puzzles.

Toos scare me with how smart they are with puzzles. Human vs too I'd put my money on too every time.

He wasn't shy about it, and it was really funny. He would reach through the bars and work the lock with one foot while he held up the metal flap and shoved the door open with the other foot! As soon as he realized he didn't have enough feet for the new locks, he left them alone, but if I forget to lock one while changing out dishes he's all over it.

Popeye's the reason I don't have a Mac , but boy all you macaw lovers are really making me want to rethink that. :)

Well, if it makes you feel any better, my RFM, when she was younger than yours, figured out that her treat cup doors were held on by screwed in clamps... :11:

So, didn't matter if the water or food bowls were in place. You can just take the door off... HAPPY SQUEAL! Crash boom! Birdie laughter...

So I guess this means you're done eating, and want to play now?! :32:

Welcome to the club, it is my no means an exclusive one. We get new members all the time! :D

Come to think of it... WHY ON EARTH WOULD THAT MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER?!

BE AFRAID! BE VERY, VERY AFRAID! :D

Latches couldn't hold the baby BTM I was handfeeding either...

It's hard to be afraid....and mad when they act like this:

Still behaving like a feathered buzz saw, eh?!

When the only thing they ever do when they let themselves out, is come looking for you, it isn't that bad...

That's one of the best photos yet!

This is what macaw ownership should be! You'll see it for yourself once that baby greenwing comes home. They really are THIS interactive, or at least they want to be...

The feathered buzz saws are often the birds that want to be, but aren't allowed to be. So they get pissey... that is a big factor in behavior problems. Not getting enough attention.

And unfortunately, like toos, sometimes there is NEVER ENOUGH attention... and that is when it gets problematic.

Thanks Mark, I can only hope our baby is that loving, well at least I have the 4 of us to help love the bird all the time :D
(we actually set a timer to remind the next person to take their turn)

Seeing our baby in about 15 hours CAN'T WAIT
Last time we played the music for him I really believe it was the first time he ever heard music, it touched our hearts :) So we are going to play that same song every time we see him, hoping to get a "Happy dance" out of him by the 3rd time or so, This visit he will be put into the harness for the first time also, SO EXCITED !!
