We went to the boondocks of Louisiana to get Zoe's new (used) cage. The guy was asking 700. I offered 500 and he took it. He had left it outside and it was filthy. It's taken hours of scrubbing, the wheels had to be replaced and a few places required a mallet, but all in all I'm happy.

Here's a pic when we first put her in. We haven't gotten all the toys back in and you can tell the furniture is all in disarray.

Karen, you got a phenomenal deal there, worth all the miles into the boondocks of Lousiana! The cage looks amazing, I know Zoe is loving her new palace!

Wow $500 what a deal Karen! It's huge. It cleaned up nicely. Let's see her try to escape THIS one... I hope not lol.

FAINT! What a gorgeous cage, Karen, and what a steal this was!!! :D Boondocks, hey? LMAO! I am now visualizing you and Karen low-crawling through the swamps, alligators lurking, cage in tow. HAHAHAHA!

Those cages fully collapse, no? I have my fingers and toes crossed that when you come back from work, all will be exactly as you left them. :D

Zoe looks so very pretty in her new digs. :smile015:

I'm not kidding about the boondocks. Took us about 5.5 hours to get there and it was out in the middle of no where. There was no cell service and we couldn't find the place. It was a nightmare.

It is collapsible... Well originally it was, but we fixed that [emoji23]

And for the record, the first thing she did when we put her in was explore the latches to see if she could "fix" them. There's a door with no purpose I can tell and that one we put a stainless steel hose clamp on it.

Beautiful new accommodations for Zoe! Let us know if it is still in tact tonight!

Would you expect any less?! Oh look, the new puzzle toy is here!

What a great deal y'all got on that cage! And a road trip to nowhere to boot.
Wonder how she is making out in there today? Probably spending today figuring our her escape for tomorrow;)

Whaaaaaaaaaat?!? That cage is ginormous, K1! Zoe looks so small in there!

And you both did a fantastic job of restoring it, because it looks great!

I hope this one curbs her Prison Break impulses a bit. Haha!

I still can't get over that price. Such a steal. Usually you see people asking MUCH more than what you paid, for a very small used SS cage.

I guess every now and then there is a great deal to be found. Someone else here got a SS used cage for a great deal too. All depends on who the seller happens to be.

You all may think I'm silly, but we put the cage together outside where she couldn't see. I'm convinced if she watched that cage would be in pieces. It actually has about 16 separate pieces that had to be put together.

I think it didn't sell and he lowered the price because I am not kidding when I said he lived in BFE. Nothing around for miles. And I can't even begin to describe the filth and I think a lot of people just don't know what stainless cages cost.

This cage is 48x32. Not sure how tall, but about as tall as her old one. She's about average for a btm at 700 grams.

Oh and we took her to her original breeder to be groomed yesterday and were discussing how we had to buy a new cage due to their escape impulses and she was telling me that last year she lost 3 btms that way. There were 4 and 3 of them got tired of living in the outdoor aviary that they had been in for a long time so they dismantled it and disappeared. The 4th decided to stay put. Kind of sad [emoji22]

Not the first time I've heard of that sort of thing happening with a BTM.

They're the most talented birds at getting themselves in trouble out there...
