Young Conure always puffed

Hi! I adopted Kiwi my GCC three days ago. He is about 4 months old. I'm worried that he may be sick. Since I am a new parrot owner, I am unfamiliar with the signs. Kiwi plays, eats and poos normally. He loves to check out what I'm eating and is very curious. But, when I seem to put him down in his cage he or even when we spend some time together he puffs up, stands on one leg and closes his eyes. Very occasionally he grinds his beak. I'm confused because some people say that a puffed conure means he's sick. But he doesn't have a runny nose, eyes are dry and when he's investigating something, he isn't puffy anymore. I do have my AC on and it is not so chilly where I would need a sweater. So maybe he's just cold? Idk. Is this normal for conures of this age? He has a vet appointment this Monday but I also want to know your opinions

These are excellent signs of a very content and happy conure. If your bird is at the bottom of the cage, fluffed up, lethargic, those are signs of a sick bird.

Pretty sure it's normal for baby birds to play and nap a bit during the day (as long as it not too much)
Beak grinding and 1 leg up are good signs.

As in above, beak grinding is a sign of contentment. Constant lethargy and puffed feathers are signs of sickness though. You say he poops normal, are the urates and tubular greens in perfect proportion?

The vet visit is a great idea anyway. Perfect time to do a wellness exam for your baby bird. Make sure to tell your vet your concerns. I usually write everything down on a piece of paper so I do not forget ANYTHING. But that's just me, I'm forgetful

Sounds like the little bird finds comfort in being with your and fall asleep that is so cute. BUT It could also mean the bird is sick. You are doing the right thing by taking the bird to the vets ALL NEW BIRDS should being brought to the vets. My little bird did not seem sick to me but I brought him to an Avian vet and had a poop test done turns out my little guys was sick with bacteria and yeast. I would never have thought.

Birds are so good at hiding how they really feel when sick .
