My 3 months old green cheek Echo who's with me now for 2.5 weeks, can poop on command now. Every time when he pooped in the last couple weeks I said the word 'poopie' very enthusiastically. This morning I tried to see if he already understood the word. So I said "poopie'. He looked at me for a while and then I said 'poopie' again and then he pooped. It's awesome. He's so smart!

Just make sure you do it over the sink or toilet, not when he's sitting on your head! :D

I let him poop on a tissue on his play stand :)

OMG I was clicking on your name and saw your echo album that is one cute little conure!!!! I clicked on you because you hadn't made an avatar yet......I'd go with the wet look lol.

Your Clark is very cute too by the way. How old is he? And how long is he with you now?

wow that's fast.

I'd be careful with going on command though. Some can cause themselves to prolapse because they strain so hard or if you forget then they can hold the poop in and cause themselves to become sick. It would be better to tech him a good place to go such as his cage or over a bin

If you have any pictures of exes or family you can't stand- you can use them too. Why waste a good tissue. Just sayin'. :)

Clark is 2yo and a month now, I've had him 1 1/2 years.

To behonest he's kind of named after superman...Clark Kent...if he ever lays an egg I'll have to change it to kara (supergirl).

I've thought about getting another and calling it Lex but I don't know if that would be a good idea, things are good between us.

That is so exciting and at so young of age. Both my girls understand potty training and "go potty" on command. It makes it so much easier to incorporate them into our family. My boy, Winston, tries to hold it but just hasn't gotten it down yet. Congratulations again!

I was already wondering if he was named after Clark Kent :)
Getting another one can loose your bond with Clark I think, because then he might bond with your other bird more. I would only do that if I don't have enough time for Echo myself.

Echo never even pooped on me yet. He always poops on the ground. He doesn't go that often either. My lovebird Pilaf pooped a lot more often and had smaller poops as well. The ones Echo has in the morning, his first poop of the day, are huge. It's hard to imagine that such a little guy can poop something that huge :)
