So we are making progress, I don't know if she is just sick of biting me or maybe coming around but it is a nice break for my hand!
My hubby was telling the guys at work and compared it to the scene in "Interview with a vampire" when Louis is offered a taste of Armand's young mortal coach driver and he has to kind of turn the hand around this way and that looking for a place that didn't already have a bite mark! LOL :p Of course they are not bird people and can not fathom why I would continue to allow myself to get bit. I love my hubby, having the same twisted sense of humor is one of the things that has kept us together for almost 20 years.

Lola will give my husband kisses! Which blows me away because while he likes the birds it is me that really has the most hands on experience with them and in the past he has been kind of stand offish once he is bitten. He has been a great help to me this time though calming her down.

Great news! And definitely wonderful that your hubby has been able to help as well. Sounds like Lola may have a crush:)

i've been in the background being a bit preoccupied lately...

Sounds like your making great progress! I'm sure she is realizing you are giving her so much more than she had before.

I would love a girl ekkie, such beautiful birds, but i'm afraid i take things too personally when it comes to attitudes lol.

My husband just came out of the "closet" last night and admitted since mango and our newest addition he is a..... bird person!
maybe i can talk him into getting a girlie :)

I adore the girls, attitude and all! :D They are just so beautiful, you can read them if you are paying attention. My girl Jillie has the most attitude and we have learned to work around her moods.(oops that's actually no longer true since Lola came, she by far has the most 'tude) I don't push her while still getting her to do what I need her to. For instance sometimes she does not like being taken out of her cage with my hand but will go onto a stick no problem. So I take her out of the cage on the stick then immediately have her step up on my hand. With all of them but most especially the girls it's important to have them stick trained as well just in case they have gotten into a nest-y mode or even just having one of those days.
Another thing I learned over time with Jillie is she would rather completely dry off after a bath on her java tree before being put in her cage, so I accommodate her, the spoiled little diva that she is!

I really think you should get a girl in the future.....don't look for restraint from me on that topic!

Oh I so cracked up laughing a the comparison to the scene from Interview with a vampire. :D I think I will have to dig out that particular DVD right now.

I also think you're making GREAT progress!

Have you been able to listen in on Miss Posh Pooch's EX birdy's repertoire some more? :54:

oh no! now temptation and research had kicked in!
i fell in love with them because of the girls, and realized after looking into them a boy would be my best bet...

opal is being caged with a girl ekkie without a home yet...and i heard they are as tight as can be...uh oh...

Yes unfortunately he (Gomez) still lets the F bomb fly pretty frequently. I haven't heard Lola say it yet, though I am certain she knows it too. Momma gets said quite loud and frequently at my house and Gomez picked that up really fast! He is really sweet and was just starved for attention. He also says "no damn it, you rotten bird as well as rotten F-er" If I ever see the woman again I would be tempted to wash her mouth out with soap!

He is giving me kisses and has really calmed down when I take him out. He is no longer shaking or wanting to be put back into the cage right away. I put some of the organic dried flowers in their fruit today and they loved it, so far I haven't found one thing that they won't eat, which is a really great surprise!

Oh yes you should do it!!!! I warned you no restraint from me!!:p

I wouldn't house an ekkie with or near powdered birds though. I recently helped a woman locally. Her 10 month old female looked like she had been rolling around on brillo pads. She had a nice cage, toys and the appropriate diet but she was not bathed enough and she was in a room full of powdered down parrots. After looking at the situation and talking to the owner I felt like this girl was over preening to remove the dust that was constantly falling on her. As soon as the lady started giving her more baths and put her in another room she was starting to look much better. Their feathers are just so different and hairlike that I think anything other than water getting on them they do not like, including sometimes the oils from our hands when we pet them too much. ;)

IMG_5878.jpgi had no idea... i get pics from opals breeder and she seems to be best friends with this girl...
i always have separate cages for my fids....now i hope the ekkie girl is ok for the time being..

here is a pic i have of her with her best friend

i know the ekkies need their distance from the powdery birds. my boy is in a different room from red, but they are on play stands in the same room through the day.

i love the girls!!!

opal the LSC2 will be weaned and ready for our home mid april so she is still a baby. maybe in the time being i can convince myself its not the diet, its the scrubbing poo from bars :) oh and to spend another 1000 lol!

i just get so worried what the other fids will think!

a flock of ekkies must be so amazing :)
