I have a Senegal that is still just a baby. I have had him home for about 2-3 weeks. He constantly wants to be held when I am home. As soon as he sees me he starts chirping and fusing at the door of the cage to get out. He will walk back and forth on the floor of the cage and shred the newspaper and try to chew on the bars to get out. I try not to pay attention to him when he does this and try only to pay attention when he stops but he seems to be getting worse. Please help me with any ideas of what I am doing wrong or what I need to do better.

he's a baby, relish this time cause it will change as they get older. the sooner you can bond with him the better.keep him with you, he is learning.

Just remember to set rules with him, no biting etc....

Does he have a play gym or similar? When I get home Sammie wants out immediately (she's also a baby) and I let her. I put her on top of the cage with toys and fresh fruit/veggies and she entertains herself while I change clothes etc.

I agree with Crimson, spend time with him, set rules and a schedule so he knows when is play time, snuggle time, etc.

He's just a baby. He will adapt. When he becomes more independent believe me you'll appreciate this time with him. Just don't all asleep with him. He can fall asleep that's fine.
