I have two ekkies and work a full time job. Both of my birds are very well adjusted and happy, so it is definitely possible.
The important thing is to be dedicated in the time spent with them each day. On average, you should be able to spend a few hours a day with them. This includes direct interaction such as training or reading to them, and less direct time spent such as having them hang with you as you watch tv, or do chores around the house.
So long as you give them time with you that they can depend on, and provide lots of stimulating activities for the in the cage while you're gone, it is very possible to give your birds a happy, healthy life even with a full time job.
