I figured since the Music thread was doing so well I'd start one on famous quotes. :)

“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

~ Chief Tecumseh

I have two great ones from Dr. Seuss!

"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope."

“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

Karigan I love his quotes too! :D

"Our life is like a flower; we go through a lot of dirt before we bloom"

'A person's a person, no matter how small' LOL :09:

or
'Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.'

I watched a movie the other week, and i wrote this quote down:
'Until you find the strength to get rid of your pain, its not going to get any better'

and because i watch so many movies, i have no idea what it was from :31:

"Be happy for anyone who's happy doing what they're doing." There's so many unhappy people in the world. Quote for "Me"

Our life is like a bicycle. To stay balanced, we must keep moving, - Albert Einstein

When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life you have a thousand reasons to smile - Lou Holtz

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. - Dr. Suess

You brought me into the world
You watched me grow from day to day
You showed me the right from wrong
The way to heaven and not to hell

What more could a child ask for
Than two loving parents

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” (Oscar Wilde)

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” (Gandhi)

“Don't walk behind me; I may not lead.
Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.” (Albert Camus)

There is in every true woman's heart a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity; but which kindles up, and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.
- Washington Irving

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. - Dr. Suess
That's the one I like. I guess because it seems to represent me the best :)

The life that conquers is the life that moves with a steady resolution and persistence toward a predetermined goal. Those who succeed are those who have thoroughly learned the immense importance of plan in life, and the tragic brevity of time.

Most true happiness comes from one's inner life, from the disposition of the mind and soul. Admittedly, a good inner life is hard to achieve, especially in these trying times. It takes reflection and contemplation and self-discipline.

Thought is the blossom; language the bud; action the fruit behind it.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Here are a few of my favourite quotes which are widely used here in the UK.

The secret of life is not to do what you like, but to like what you do.

We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.

You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Class is an aura of confidence that is being sure without being cocky. Class has nothing to do with money. Class never runs scared. It is self-discipline and self-knowledge. It's the sure footedness that comes with having proved you can meet life.
- Ann Landers
