well its wk 2 as in the title of caging nut more throughout the day! :11: even if we are in.

well we have had no flying attacks! its early days still but she is showing hardly any aggression;) when we let her out from 3/4pm inwards!

she is caged from morning till say 4pm latest, if i've been on an early shift, she takes a nap with me on my knee :D
it was thundering over head yesterday, very loud, she let the 1st set go, but when 2nd started she released the loudest shriek ever! to which i just calmly replied, *nut?? shusss...... to which she just tucked her foot back up and went back to sleep :21:
she lets me have 45mins max, then its open season on my toes!!!:11::30: and her play time

then its our shower time, she loves it! when i make a move towards kitchen, shes right behind me and if i am not going up stairs, i can almost hear the awwww coming off her body language:(

then after its dinner an her bed time! till just before 6am

she is also more ready to step up for me, and only very slightly nippy, i still don't insist for her to step up etc, and she is not wary of going into her cage, but does like to be out of it

i've included 2 pics one when nut was asleep but, she heard the camera shutter and other is when she is giving her self a good preen, both of which she is on my knee

Great, I'm glad its working out. She was just getting too big for her britches. lol I'll say it again, birds are weird. It looks like they would behave better w/more freedom???

thats what i thought, i blame the curtain rail! she perched on that through the day, it must have given her bad thoughts!! lol

but like i said early days but i do hope this works in the long run, i think the extra freedom, just left her bored as we didn't really interact etc, quality time over quantity time??

I've been home w/Merlin this summer & he is actually better. Its like his dream come true, uninterrupted access to me @ all times. I have been giving him more cage time lately, I really have to go back to work. I'm praying we don't have any issues when he's not w/me all day. He was so good before, I hope I haven't spoiled him.

& we don't have curtains, only blinds, he does have a transom window that is his "spot". I can't get him there & he knows it.

Im glad nut is behaving better for ya, I guess the new training works for ya!!! :)

Hey Suebee! Kind of an off topic questions but I was wondering if this is the feather chewing nut? Also wondering if her wings were clipped while she was chewing??? Also have you let her become fully flighted? Also Has the chewing gotten any better??? *Deep Breath* *sigh* sorry for the bombarding lol Nut is looking beautiful btw :) Glad to hear your training is going well!

she's always been flighted an thought he pic's don't show it, there are some chewed feathers, but not seeing a new chewed feather every day so to speak, so i think that has slowed down for now, and thanks all, its a great relief for me, the thought of an angry bird for the next 30yrs made me feel terrible (well basically like some evil prison guard)

i've a feeling merlin will be fine, as you are gradually caging him, an then of to work, he might act out a little at the start lol, cos when i started this increased cage time, nut nearly refused to eat for a few days and threw all kinda tantrums. i just made it clear to my son who is at home with her during day NOT to walk near the door, that way she would not feel let down when he didn't let her out, and treats are only fed at side of the cage (at first she lunged an threw treat!)
the real test will be when son is back to school, and my shifts yet again get changed from work, they are increasing my days but not my hours! grrrr and i will be working later into the night  but fingers crossed and if that un settles her i will try a new stratagie (glad i've gone to all these training things to do challenging behaviour and dementia!!!:D)
