I was fascinated when I heard that some baby quaker parrots speak as early as six weeks after they hatch. Baby Wilson has two exceptional teachers in Harry and Sammy. They meow, cry, quack, bark, and constantly talk to each other. I've watched the two of them learn from each other and I was curious to see what they could teach Wilson. He said his first words yesterday at nine weeks, one of Sammy's favorite phrases, "Good, Good, Good!"

He's eating on his own, finished with hand feedings and he's learned to take a bath in his water bowl!

That's awesome! Great picture too, what a cutie =)

My Nacho birdy also likes a dip in the water bowl from time to time but hasn't said a word yet. He's close though! I hear him trying when he doesn't think I'm listening..

Oh my goodness, I am sooooo excited you have a BABY!!:D And what a cutie pie!!! Ha Ha better watch those English lessons from my favorite naughty girl Harry.

Your Nacho is a super cutie! Talk to him and I can almost guarantee he'll talk back. I think quakers learn to speak our language so they can argue with us better.

Thank you, Laura! I've had so much fun with him. I would have hand fed him for months but he had other ideas.

Amazingly, Sammy has learned everything in Harry's extensive vocabulary EXCEPT the naughty words. Sammy does not swear, he's a gentleman. Harry's happy to do all the cussing for her flock. Stubborn, stubborn girl, we've never encouraged her and after three years of ignoring her foul mouth, she still uses her colorful vocabulary from time to time.

What a super cutie Wilson is! He's a real darling--I hope Sammy and Harry open him with welcome arms, er, wings? ;)

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!? He's talking already?!? AND fully weaned?!? Most impressive!

And I love that pic! You can see the joy on his little face!

Thank you, Mitch and Doc!

Uncle Stephen, this food face is for you! :)

My serious little guy is in a big hurry to grow up! Typical quaker, dinner is his favorite time of day.

Such a cutie :)

It seems like you have a child prodigy, Allee. :D Wilson is looking good and growing up fast.

What a coincidence! Dinner is my favorite time of day, too! Lol! Love that pic, Huckleberry! I'm a definite Wilson fan!
