Parrots
RIP Constantine: Jenday Conure
I had to stop at our local 'petstore' today to get some pellets for the girls since the new animal supply store didn't have them. They had a green quaker so of course I beeline over to say hello before grabbing my pellets. I was just asking for trouble apparently. Everytime I walked away, he contact called me then chirped and chattered when I came over until I went and got an employee so I could hold him.

The lady said "We can try but he doesn't really like anyone." She opened the cage and he ran right out and to the end of his door for me. He wouldn't step up but rubbed his face on my hoodie sleeve and followed me if I moved. The lady was almost in tears. That's when it happened. Being the assistant manager, she said "Hun, I'll make you a deal. I want Sami to go to a good home and you sure know your parrots. I'll give you the cage and Sami for $250"

I don't care for the looks of Quakers (didn't like sun conures either but you see how that turned out...) But he is such a sweetie. I can't have him either. I swear the world is dangling parrots in front of me and taking them away for the fun of it! First my little Sun from petsmart, than the macaws, and now the quaker. Jeez I give up!

Sorry I just had to rant about it to someone who'd understand. I'm not even sure if I posted in the right thread thingy lol

Yeah I know how you feel. The petsmart we have here usually only carries budgies and maybe cockatiels but they always have the big area for one larger bird thats always empty...Well I picked up Scarlet a new toy last week and they had the cutest GCC in there! My wife looked at my face and just said "oohhhhh nooooo, we cant Kris, im sorry" haha.

How could you leave that poor baby? LOL. Actually Quakers are delightful little birds, mostly great talkers, and love to be into whatever you are doing. Bird USA's reader survey has ranked them in the top four talkers every year for quite a while now. We loved ours.

He was ill for one, my dad said no, I don't have the spare cash, and lots more reasons. I feel pretty crappy about leaving him there; I really really do. I might go in just to tell them where to take him for a vet and say I can't take him home myself. Maybe I should make my dad go meet him lol he was adorable...
