well why do you like/love green cheek conures?

why over other birds?


well for me i have had lots of other birds budgies, lorikeets, cockatiels, love birds etc.


but for me the gcc are extremely friendly. social, playful and most of all loves snuggles and being held and hugged. my gcc loves me and wants to be on me or around me 24/7. just loves me to death.!!

i''ve heard people say big parrot in a small bird

but this guy is just loving and affectionate!'

so why do you guys love them?

WHY?? Because they are AWESOME!!! I got a gcc on impulse as my first bird and he has been great! He is sweet, funny, affectionate and very smart.

They are full of personality...and sweet...but definitely not a pushover! Ha!

I love them for all those reasons, and that they are small enough not to be intimidated by. You KNOW you're going to get bit, and it's not as scary as a big bird bite. Yet their personality is that of a big bird! They are the best of both worlds.

I like mine mostly because they are independent and easy going. They do like to cuddle occasionally... I actually hate the gcc bite. It hurts to a degree that just annoys me. I'm weird I know so far I've been fine with the grey, amazon, cockatoo biting more than the little bird bites. The little birds just annoy me when they bite and the urge to swat them across the room is high when it happens. I'm definitely finding a soft spot for the amazons not just my own weird one either!

adadrian, my Lily loves me and my wife to death just like yours. She sleeps on my neck collar, too. She is a velcro bird. She is smart and loves to dance to get our attention. This is how she dances: stand up straight, arch chest out, raise back of neck feathers, fan out tail feathers, swing her head left-right, and march back and forth like a Russian soldier (one foot high up then down, then the other foot).:32:

I love GCC because they’re so cuddly and playful! They really are little clowns and love to adventure and try new things. They will always make you laugh by hanging upside down or trying something silly. But most of all - yes, the cuddles!!! Ona is even more cuddly than my dogs and just wants to be on me all the time. They’re also very intelligent and a nice small size.

They are awfully cute and playful, and very pretty, but the gcc beak is very sharp and delivers a painful pinch if the birdy is too excited.
