Yesterday, as I was looking through the few YouTube videos I have, I noticed one of my videos was RED FLAGGED with a Copywright Infringement. At first I was quite puzzled, I had NO clue WHAT I had done wrong.

Upon further investigation I found out that SOMEONE reported the video because there is audible music in the background.

I mean, REALLY???? I play the radio from morning til night, and don't bother turning it down when I do grab the camcorder, which isn't very often.

The video was taken last September. It was of Niko outside, playing, dancing and flapping on his Boing, and I certainly did a whole lot of talking, too. The video had only been viewed like 50some times (I only post links on here), so WHO would go so far and report that?

I deleted it, of course - I need NO troubles. :54:

Ok...rant over....carry on with the regular scheduled program. :)

I've run into the same sort of thing, but i had the song playing pretty loud. I don't think it's that big a deal, but it will make it unviewable to some people.

due to PG guidelines I can't put my "normal" response in here.:20:

I COMPLETELY understand that one. ;) Believe me, I was seeing RUBY red yesterday when I finally realized what was going on...and there were more than just a few "choice" words used. :(...and not just in my head either. :54:

As a musician...I can tell ya that its bull pucky....the only way around it is to post *this music isn't owned by me...or

In my case, honky tonk truth cover by brandon Simon..

I'm having to be very careful who's material I cover..I had a few others up and even with the "protections" and also the fact that I played them differently...i still got flagged...

Is a hassle and it makes it so you have to be too careful

It just makes me wonder why someone would go to all that trouble to report it :( Very petty!!!

I am a Google partner and can tell you that was inappropriate and should not be flagged. UNLESS it is a monetized video like some of mine are. It you have ad's on the video then your not allowed to do that unless you jump through a few hoops. But I did not notice any ad's with your videos so you have done nothing wrong. I will do a little digging and see if I can be of assistance to you.

OH WOW!!! THANK YOU so much, JMarie!

I promise, NONE of my videos are or were ever monetized (I don't even know what that means...:()

Thank you again!!!

FAINT! Remove the hug in my previous post....I don't want JMarie to get mad at me. I promise, I don't go around hugging guys just like that.

I thought that was considered fair use. The music is not the purpose of the video and it's not like poorly-recorded music playing on the background can be considered a high quality rendition that people would listen to in lieu of the monetized version of the real song. Nobody can argue that your background music gave any damages to any company's potential profit. Pretty silly.

I had it happen with a video of my Budgie talking his head off. The radio was playing in the background like it always does. Next thing I know I've got an email saying that there was some sort of copyright infringement. I could hardly hear the song no matter how loud I turned up the video.

Wendy I did look into this. There is no problem with your video. It was probably some punk kid or some misinformed adult that only knew part of the rule to be a pain in the bum. Anyone can click that little flag button at the bottom of the video. Many of my videos are monetized. Meaning they have commercials at the beginning. These videos have strict rules pertaining to content not created solely by me, like music or videos.
Below is a video that I had monetized. I then clicked the button to add the music through YouTube. When I did that the monetization was automatically removed. What this shows is that music is allowed, but not if your benefiting financially from someone else's content.

Steve, I don't know what to do now. Uploading it again did NOTHING. I still have the flag "third party" next to the video, and YouTube is waiting for me to acknowledge this third party. What do I do??? I have a headache from reading all about copyright infringements...and am at wits end over here. They also said that deleting the video wouldn't have helped me anyway. :(

That's dumb. Only suggestion I have is to crop the video to make it look different data wise.

Thank you!

I'm currently downloading Windows Movie Maker. Hopefully I can fiddle with the clip, delete it from YouTube, and upload it once again.

Tylenol...here I come.
