White Wart-Like Growth On Cere

Meiko, 9-year old Moustache
Its been a while since I've been on here, but let me start off by saying I already have a vet appointment for Meiko. However, the vet is booked until Monday so it isn't until then.

Now, last night I noticed Meiko had a white, wart-like growth on his cere between his nostril and eye. I am freaking myself out thinking its avian pox, and if it is, I want to make sure it doesn't spread anywhere else on his body until Monday (even though from what I'm reading its kind of impossible..)

Before I go bleaching his cage (which is what a few articles I've read have said to do in order to help kills the virus- frankly I'm not entirely comfortable doing that), I was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar or has any ideas of what this could be so I can take some kind of action before going to the vet.

I'm at my wits end. He's been in PERFECT health for the past 9 years, hasn't been around other parrots to get infected, and now this... UGGGGHHH...

A picture will definitely help. Here's the thing, a lot of times they can be carriers without ever showing any symptoms, but will pop up all of a sudden due to poor health, stress, sudden changes or just for no apparent reason. Even a person can bring disease to your bird if your not careful washing your hands before handling your birds. I've dealt with diseases and parasites so many times since we rescue animals off the streets that we're very careful in sanitizing EVERYTHING! I have anti-bacterial soap and spray all over the house, of course you shouldn't use the spray around birds. I use it to spray in my bathroom where the sick animals stay in to begin with.

I attached some photos- he does NOT like my phone, so that was the best I could get.

Trust me when I say, NO ONE touches him, except for me. Very much a one person bird, and he's the only animal in the house- hence why I'm baffled. I know no else who has birds. However, I do understand that it is easy to spread viruses and bacteria, especially with parrots.

I just really hope it's nothing serious, and I am not very good at the "waiting game."

I just signed up for an account because this is the only thing I can find online that is similar to what's on my senegal. Did you ever figure out what it was?
I know this post is super old but hoping you see this.

I truly hope the OP (original poster) will see your response, but please don't get your hopes up as she hasn't been online in over 3 years. :(

Please, Missliz, feel free to make your own thread, and if you can include pictures of your Senegal. Have you had your sennie checked out by a vet yet regarding the growth?

Oh I knew it was a long shot that they'd see it. And not yet, I need to make an appointment still. I actually didn't realize it was even a problem until our bird groomer mentioned it, my senegal is only a year old and has pretty much always had a lump in almost the same place as the OP's birds pictures. My groomer (who actually owns an exotic bird store) said it's probably nothing but to get it checked out anyways which I will, I was just googling last night trying to see what it could be and this thread popped up. I'll try posting a new post but in the meantime I'll make that appointment. Thanks!
