Lol the problem is, we all think our birds are super-special geniuses, no matter what the breed. :D

Then I watch my super smart CAG fly straight and level into the side of a two story house, and bounce off... AND... HMMM... MAYBE NOTSOMUCH! :D

Tusk! It was a two story house directly in your flight path. Did you just not notice you were flying into a wall, or what?!

I think 'tiels can be smarter than people give them credit for. My cockatiel would start shrieking whenever she saw my mom pick up her purse across the room because she knew it meant we were leaving. She could identify us individually by our footsteps alone. Maybe she was just a cockatiel genius? My GCC is even smarter, I think. And small cockatoos are soooo smart. They're just as intelligent as their larger cousins (maybe even more so!).

From owning a few of those birds on the list, I would say the Senegal tho. Lilo is like a little feathery human they way she acts and struts her diva stuff! Lol but Senegals are so smart, almost too smart... :D

I may be biased, but I think my GCC is super smart. She learns associations so quickly it blows my mind. She learned how to dance on command, play peekaboo, and to go to her cage on command in about 10 minutes for each thing, just with praise and treats!

She even has a very large vocabulary for a conure. She makes me laugh some days when she nips me and then says "Don't bite" to mock me ><.

And she likes to announce when she needs to use the washroom, or if she has just done so.. "GO POOPIE!"

She also knows what it means to "go to Nanny's house" and will suddenly look for her carrier.

I think she's special, but in general I believe conures are super smart :3

Parrots of all kinds are typically very intelligent (though there seems to be some individual exceptions). I can really only vouch for Ralph, my Quaker parrot, whose intelligence amazes me. He understands many of the words I say to him-- he knows what "pellets" are, he knows where the kitchen and bathroom are, he knows the meaning of other words like "spoon," "water," "window," and lots more. He can differentiate between a duck and a chicken if he's asked to imitate one or the other, and will imitate a sneeze on request too. He can roll over like a puppy on request too, but only if he's in the mood, of course-- since he is a parrot. :D

I too think it depends on the bird and what we're basing smart on. I think my lovebird is pretty smart, one of my green cheeks is smart and the other is well... A bit silly.

Intelligence can be something we can debate all day. My first bird was a adult budgie who most like spent his life with other budgies (until he came home with me). I managed to train him to step up. His limit was sitting on my hand. I tried to teach him to talk. While he never spoke he did begin to look at me and move his mouth as if he was trying. Take from that what you will. Every green cheek conure I had has shown intelligence and I think my hahns macaw Captain Jack is the smartest bird I ever had.
