which macaw?

* I think the Scarlet is the most beautiful bird, but I am surprised how many people think Kayko the B&G is just as pretty.

Choosing the most beautiful macaw is a real challenge for me. There are features of each of them that I love. The back view of scarlets are incredible, all the colors of the rainbow. Blue & Golds have striking contrast in colors and I love the black feathers on their face. Many of the hybrids have such a wide color pallet that I just love. Green wings also have amazing colors and very pretty faces. Hyacinths are also so sticking. Too hard for me to pick a favorite, I'm glad that I can enjoy them all.

Clifford is pinchy. It's almost like 'pinch' is part of his language, like a pinch greeting. He certainly pinches hard enough, but seldom now ever hurts me. Initially when the wind at the beach would blow him around, he thought that I was responsible for the wind and had to be punished by him biting my ears.

I COULDN'T THINK OF A BETTER DESCRIPTION OF A "BEAKY" MACAW... from the mouth of a bird person that has one.

Pinching is part of their language, and part of how they express themselves. If you are not prepared to deal with that, then please don't get one. It's not the bird's fault.

If you want a big red one, I would recommend a greenwing... with the one caution that there are no macaws out there that I am aware of, that respond well to less than confident owners. Always handle them with confidence.

I have a pair of scarlets and boy what a difference in personalities. Jonny 1 year, a little beaky , very playful ,explorer. Jena 14 month can put in to shame big &gw together .Very gentle , not beaky at all , always come but likes to play .Both are going crazy in the shower only.

Forgot to mention both of them are self clipping nails .Makes me wonder if other macaws do that too.
