Just got the cage on the right second hand and well I get it home and the lock is funky I think it is missing a piece I can still lock it with a ink pen to push the male part of the lock into the female part but was wondering if anyone knew what brand this is so I can order hopefully another lock and I think it is missing the perch part of the top perch piece if that makes since lol looks like there should be a perch that slides into it.

We have went up a size with the too. The amazon use to be in it. We have almost had them for a week now but getting her a nice big cage is on my list of things to get!! To get my girlies all comfy and homey!

You need bigger cages for both of them.

They need to at least be able to flap their wings in the cages.

The amazon is only in her cage at night the too she can flap her wings but she for sure needs a bigger cage with out a doubt I was told to do it slowly since we think se was abused or not handled at all or something has happened anyways and she was in a tiny tiny cage when we got her and was told to do it slowly not to stress her out anymore.

 Those are incredibly tiny :(

Regardless if you do it now or later, it may or may not stress her out going from a small cage to a larger one. If you leave a night light on for her it would help her to get adjusted. But that cage is definitely not right for her even now.

Can you post pictures of the lock up close? It depends on what kind of lock it is for mebto direct you to the exact site.

My OWA Slater was in a tiny cage and we moved him as soon as we got him to a bigger one. He did fine in the transition and spent a lot of time just opening and closing his wings for the first time in years:)
I think she will be fine if you move her now and use a night light as Mikey suggested.

I'm still looking for bigger cages, this was just what I had to do to get the too out of the tiny tiny cage. The one she is in she can atleast open her wings all the way. We are working on getting a huge cage at the moment from the guy we got them from. Suppose to be huge...but I'm waiting on the pic and measurements I have to places big enough for 5.5*4 and no limit on how tall. So they will have big cages. I haven't been had them a week yet so I'm trying lol I have heard about a night light but is it need to cover then at night? But I they/she is covered then she won't see the night light

Here is the lock

Hmm I was told on here to wait to not stress her out but that's good to know that I can put her in a huge cage ASAP!

Terry she was all excited when flapping her wings she kept doing it over and over I couldn't imagine being squished in a cage just a couple inches taller than me and not being able to move my arms, but she is able to open her wings :) I got to the vet on Thursday, the soonest they could get us in so I'm not sure if she is small for the breed or anything like that I have a list of questions to ask the vet also lol

Hmmm, I am not sure what brand that cage is - you may be able to replace the lock with one you find at a hardware store.

So excited about your new family members! I will be looking forward to seeing their new cages:)

As far as covering them, I cover my birds who were already used to being covered, and don't cover the others. They are not covered completely so the night light still illuminates their cages somewhat.I have 2 separate bird rooms where I leave a night light on at night for them. None of my birds are in an area where they would be disturbed at night, so maybe someone else can help with that part.
Good luck with your birds! (What are their names?)

Well the guy I got the amazon from call her grumpy bird but I just really don't like it and I call her pretty girl while talking to her but she really needs a name lol she will take treats and do target training and take treats easy and loves to "clean" my hands lol and give kisses and to e loved on but still working on her stepping up and I don't want to force her but!! I did get to hold her today lol I was so excited giggle so a bit of progress with her too!

The cockatoo didn't have a name the guy bought her at a auction about 2 days before I came to look at the amazon and just knew she had to come home too! She is very scared and will try to eat me alive I get close to her. I'm now able to sit next to her cage and speak to her with out her shaking like a leaf now so I'm taking that as progress!

I'll look and see if I can get a lock that will work I didn't even think of that!
I'll just continue to cover them since they don't seem to mind it either or. I'm not worried about them being noises at night or anything they can be as loud and boy do they get loud lol but it's their home they can be noisy like my children lol they fit right in with my six.

That is definitely progress! And I agree, Grumpy bird is no kind of name:(
I think the perfect names will come to you as you come to know them better.

They named her grumpy bird cause she would "nicely" bite over and over when you went to pick her up. It doesn't hurt but I don't want to force her I want her to step up cause she is comfortable doing so

I don't force my birds either - I have tried to develop that trust with them where they want to step up. Sometimes it takes a long time - my hawkhead just stepped up for the first time a couple of nights ago after having her for 4 months:)
Naming them both Princess may be a bit confusing..lol. When my daughter was 5 she wanted to name everyone Care bear..lol.
