I want to make my own fun toys because i have saved up a lot of cardboard and have twine and Popsicle sticks...but my toys need more variety! I've been to walmart, target, you name it looking for large plastic beads or rings or anything really that I can go buy in bulk!

any suggestions? Hobby lobby ?

I usually check out party favor stores, the party favor section at the dollar store and look for baby toys at the goodwill and yardsale to make my toys. Just use common sense on whats safe (shiny metallic coatings, anything with metal, painted/laquered/treated wood ext... is probably not safe. Plastic is:)) A drill is handy to have to make holes where you need them for hanging! IF you ever use metal parts (such as chain or fasteners) BE 150% POSITIVE IT IS STAINLESS! In fact, it's best to avoid metal altogether if possible :) I cannabilize old toys too for anything I can salvage (for example, a wood bead that is still in good shape, I'll keep it). If you to the scrap lumber section at your local hardware store, and you can find untreated, bird safe wood to saw up into blocks. Your bird does not care if it's not perfectly square or brightly colored and raw wood scraps are cheap. Never throw away toilet paper/paper towel rolls either! Birds love em' I also find my bird LOVES toothbrush handles (cut the bristle part off and boil to sterilize), empty chapstick containers, empty (as in remove the old ink part) pens ext... Anything he sees us "playing with" he loves to play with (once we make it bird safe of course;))

Edit: Here some threads I've posted with toys I've made out of old junk/low cost kid toys/ party favors for next to nothing:

And here's my way of organizing his toy parts, so I can find everything easily (the spoiled thing!):

Most online stores that sell parrot toys will sell parts. You don't say where you live, but if there are bird stores where you are, they always seem to sell parts too. Good luck. :)
