We know that most all avians have a Latin nam though few of us remember them.
So I am not talking about that.

But specifically amazons.
A double yellow headed is just that.
And
A yellow nape Amazon is just a yellow nape Amazon.
An Orange Wing Amazon is an Orange Wing Amazon.

But the Twins are known for/with many different names and not all are……
Well recognized.
I think the most well known would be “Mexican redhead Amazon “
And that always sounded vaguely raciest to me.
Red crowned amazon is not raciest and a good descriptive name.
Green cheek amazon may be less well known and still somewhat descriptive but.
I think it gets confused with green cheek Conures.

So why does this species of amazon have so many different names?
