I notice lotta people say to give sunflower seeds for training snacks, but I can't seem to find unsalted sunflower seeds anywhere! In petstores they only have them blended with other seed mixes - so do you guys usually buy a seed mix and just pick out the sunflower seeds? or can you give them like "david's sunflower seed" from walmart?

You can get sunflower seeds that are already hulled. Here, have a look:

I get mine from a place called, the bird store, in Orlando. They are a real nice small sunflower seed still in their shell, non oily.

I got mine from an amish store near me. They are raw seeds, already hulled, and unsalted. Maybe a health food store would have the unsalted ones?

ah thanks guys, yes i did find an organic store that has raw unshelled sunflower seeds, but i just assumed that they needed the shell to crack open - i actually do have some unshelled raw sunflower seeds and i gave it to my conure but he just nibbles it for 2 seconds then drops it...so gonna try leaving it in his food cup and hopefully he will get used to it, im guessing he just never really had them before.

I hey mine at Giant Eagle. They are organic and not salted, already out of shell. I just cut it into 3 small pieces. They can be very fatty. Great for training :)
